It was a very dark morning and Frank and I slept in later than we should have and consequently Frank was late for Sunday school and I for church I went down to Aunty's for dinner and spent the after noon writing to Marj. Frank went down to Pickford's for dinner and came back here to do noon chores. Bob was here with him when I got home at 4 o'clock and they have both gone back there to-night. I drove out home as soon as I milked & had tea and shut <s>some</s> the chickens up so that I can catch some to ship tomorrow. Very threatening all day.

Frank was ploughing at Roy Hammond's all day and I went out home to crate up some cocrels and ship them. I found Ina out there washing and the Bagley's all came out while I was there and got some crab apples

interest. Quint came back to get me and I went down & interviewed him I didn't know what to do about it but he said there was a long article in a Hamilton paper so that if they are going to print it anyway they might as well have the facts. It was Capt. Ralph Smith and he was very decent. After he left Frank and I shook out alfalfa till chore time. It is soaked through and just about ruined. I went to bed right after tea after taking a hot drink in an endeavor to break up a cold which I feel coming on. Frank went down to Pickfords Fine and quite warm, wind still in the west.

Saturday September 11th

We had a couple of delays this morning first by Pickford coming after his milk and then Billy Mills who came to get the drill. By the time we got the team hooked up and our apples over to Charlie's it was nearly noon. Frank rode on down town to get Bill Laings to put me up some chicken feed and we went down to-night and got a bag of it in the buggy while I was milking. This after noon we shook out the rest of the alfalfa and had a look at the oats. They are grown fast to the ground and Frank thinks he won't try to haul them. We separated the ram lambs and put them in on the alfalfa and shut the old ram in the stable. To-night Frank and I both went down town. He went to the dance with Irene and I went up for a short time to a political meeting and heard John S. Martin. He is far short of what I would call a good speaker the popular verdict to the contrary notwithstanding. Stansell spoke before I got there and Pratt after I left. Fine & warm.
