Tom came down with his team this morning and we took the old lane fence down and much to my surprise were able to plough three furrows down the south side of the old fence ridge. It was pretty rocky and hard to hold the plough in in spots, we couldnt plough any more as the horses couldn't walk on the ridge but we broke quite a length of the ridge down partly with the plow going crosswise at it and partly with the axe. We quit at noon as Tom had to go and haul cornstalks for Mrs. John Lindsay, old John having left his unhappy home a couple of weeks ago and

I went down to view the heirlooms at the bank. We couldn't both go as we had no one to leave the kids with so Marj. is ging when they open them again which will likely be when & Walter come after Christmas. I was of course a little late getitng to the bank and the party was all assmebled and one or two of the chests had beene xammined and put away, but what i did see was an eyefull. Mr. Cope and Totu Smith were there and they were bgreatly impressed and delighted esoecially with the nad chade spieces. It seems to jave been collected from several different sourced as there was a variety of coats of arms and crests on the differewnt lots and one or two pieces had the Royal coat of arms on them. There was quite an assembly of guests. mrs Skey & Miss Buckwell. Mrs. Freeman, Ada, Mr. Cornish, Dr. Cook, the Barwells, the Jim Waddle's, the Charlie Ivey's the Dick Tibbetts and all our family (exceot Huby & marj. & the five kids) and the bank staff. It was darkl when I got home and by the time Marj. 7 I had our tea and got oour various chores dfone we were pretty tired & went right o bed. Cold.

We left Gay & the baby with Ina this morning and Marj. Harry B and I drove down town. Marj went up town for some Christmas buying and I walked over to Charlie Quanbury's and paid my interest on the mortgage. We had dinner at Aunty's at their urgent behest and came home soon after. Ina said Tom Stone had been here to help me with lane and said he would come again to-morrow but I don't think he can do any thing as it is frozen up solid again. I took the wire off the posts this after noon.
