Art. and Tom were here before we were finished breakfast and Art. worked all day at Marj's kitchen cupboard but didn't quite finish. Tom and I worked till noon at the lane and got the dead ash tree at road down. The mud was frozen harder than ever of course and we thought we could make better time with a pick so I went over to Bill Donald's to borrow one. All but Bill were busy picking geese and he was sick in bed so Nina told me to send Tom down after dinner. The others protested, but when I told Tom he thought he had better go as they had 19 geese to pick. I did all that could be done now to the lane myself this after noon. Tom is going to start hauling

Tom is going to start hauling gravel next week if all is well, and it will have to be ditched and graded in the Spring after the frost goes out. Very cold last night with strong west wind. Wind swung to the north to-day and is bitterly cold and clear to-night.

get started very early. I went over to the Lampkin's first thing after breakfast with Harry B and took them some salt pitre that they asked me to get yesterday. I also helped Dave get his scales up to the woodshed from the barn to weigh his pork. They butchered on Tuesday. Tom was waiting for me when I got home. Art Quanbury was in and measured up the space for Marj's kitchen cupboards and said he would be back to-morrow. High West wind all day, cloudy and cold.
