Thursday December 23rd

This has been a beautiful day in spite of a light east breeze but sunny and quite mild. I didnt get very much done to-day but chores and a few odd jobs. I started to cut up my pig and got him about half cut up but thought I would go over and have another look at Dad's methods before I finished. I worked a little more at the chicken pen and got the roof finished and the west end all boarded up. I got Marj. out to help me raise the front of the colony house so as to have it plumb with the east end of the chicken pen. Marj. hasn't felt very well to-day but has been busy decorating the house with pine and hemlock boughs and has it looking very coniferously Christmassy.

Friday December 24th

We had a late breakfast and no dinner again to-day. I fixed up another show card for Hall as he lost one of the others I did for him, and I finished up copying out the poem that Marj. composed to go with Josie's horse blanket at the Christmas tree. This after noon I drove down town and got my hair cut and did some last minute purchasing for Christmas and didn't get home till after dark. Great excitement prevails in the house to-night and three stockings are hanging on the back of the wicker chair all ready for Santa Claus. Harvey Shand was in this morning to ask me to help audit the books of the school house on Monday or Tuesday
