We had breakfast very late as usual. Mabel was here and stayed till about noon but not to dinner. I battoned the cracks on the north side of the calf pen which took me till after noon. Harry B and the baby were out and by the time I finished we were all cold so I came in the house and read to Harry B. till he went to sleep. Before I got out again Dad. drove over. He didn't stay long as he said he had to get back to do chores, George having gone to Brantford with Ada who is having an x-ray examination of a pain in her side.

I started to dp chores after Dad. left and had to go down to Dave's gate after the cattle as they got out on the road. The two calves were in his gully and I had a very exasperating time driving them out. To-night I walked over to Dave's to try to come to terms with him for his place as Dad. told me he could let me have the monwey anyttime. Dave asked me 4500 for the place and stock the other day but I told ghim it was too much. Poor old cuss he wants to quit and he wants enough to out of the place to buy a house & lot in town and this place isn't worth it. I offered to buy it at a reasonable figire which i didn't state and let them keep the house if they would board a man but they couldn't decide on the spur of the moment. Coldnorth west wind all day. Freezing hard to-night.

up the chores. I got them done up early and walked down to Aunty's for tea, had a nice visit with them all there and then went to the Hockey Match with the band. The match was between the Simcoe & Dover Juniors and would have been a good game if the ice had been hard but as it has been thawing all day the boys had to shove the puck through slush and couldn't make long shots or move it fast. Dover I think played a little the best game but they were well matched and kept the score even each team getting 3 goals so they played half an hour over time and Dover got one making the score 4 - 3 in favour of Dover. I got a ride home with Frankie & Carl Lemmon. Very mild and spring like all day.
