(Left) Geo.Wright, Esq. We are pained to have to announce the death of Geo.Wright,Esq, of Amherst Island, which sad event took place at his residence at an early hour on Friday evening last. Mr.Wright has been ailing for a long time, and his friends have been aware that his decease could not be long delayed. Mr.W. was a man of particular ability, and during the number of years he represented his municipality in the County Council, he was one of the leading members, his voice being always heard in favor of every progressive movement and his opinion was universally respected by his fellow councillors.He was particularly interested in our educational system, and every movement pertaining to the better education of our youth invariably received his countenance and support. in his own neighborhood Mr.Wright had the respect of his fellow citizen and his death will be deeply regretted. The County Council have unanimously passed a resolution of condolence to be presented to the bereaved family. his funeral took place on Sunday last, his remains being followed to their last resting place by a large and sorrowing congregation of friends and relatives.

Since the last meeting of the Council he had learned that a former respected member of this Council had passed away. He reffered to Geo.Wright,Esq, ex-Reeve of Amherst Island,that gentleman having been buried on Sunday last. the gentleman was always held in the highest respect by his fellow members as an able man,who filled the position of Reeve with honor to himself and credit to the municipality he represented. he hoped to the Council would give expression to their sympathy for the bereaved family in a resolution of condolence or otherwise as they saw fit.

Dear Madam,the members of the County Council of lennox & Addington, having learned with the deepest regret of the death of your husband, George Wright, Esq, ex-Reeve of Amherst Island, desire hereby to tender you and your family their most heartfelt sympothy and condolence in the irreparable bereavement with which it has pleased Heaven To visit you. they beg leave to bear testimony to the excellence of our deceased co-worker's services in his official capacity, to the performance of which he brought the aid of a cultivated intellect, an honest purpose,a clearness and force of mental grasp, and a well directed dilligence that made him one of the foremost members of our body, a credit both to the municipality he represented in the Council faithfully for three years and to the County whose general interests he so successfully labored to subserve. we would also wish to recognize the many excellent qualities that were centered in his private character, which combined to make him an agreeable and genial companion, a faithful friend, and in fine to make him in the broadest acceptation of the word, a gentleman, whose memory we shall cherish while life shall last. we again beg to assure you of our earnest sympathy, and devoutly commend you to the great source of comfort that becomes a refuge to the afflicted when mere human consolation is insufficient.
