Went to the Bush Gordon and I cutting some Wood for William a Great sap Day sugared the Moles full and 3 pans full Kind of soft took the tub to the Bush set fires on the Pitt Point Killed the First snake I seen and Burnt him in the fire the sheep started to the Bush got them turned Back Before they Got the taste of the sap  ice not open on the south side of the Island yet a Fine Day

18th Our Duncans Birth Day putting out Fires heard the First Frogs singing set Fires in the upper Feild

19th Weighed the sugar 178 lbs owe them 3 lbs out the Weight about 60 lbs sugared off to Day Quirking about set  set Fires on the north side of the sugar Bush William and his Wife crofsed to night heard Funny Jim Purcell Departed some time about Monday Last  Henery and Lewis Henerys Boy Boiled all nght tonight in the Bush Sap Ran Well to Day Drawing some of the square sticks around the Garden Heard Pete Grant was working at Hamiltons Shed Training

20th a Fortunate Day in the Bush all Day Made about 5 Gallons of syrup for our share Sugared off about 45 lbs of sugar East Wind Dont run very well to Day the sap Great Fires in the Marshes Killing a Great many snakes to Day Gordon and Williams Boys Richard Henery and Lewy Bosell  Freezing some to night a Great Deal of shooting now at Ducks and Muskrats

23rd St Georges Day Fired 4 Rounds this morning William came to the sugar Bush made 3 Gallons of syrup Let out the Cow to Day for the first time since she came cutting Brush setting Fires took the Rails of the West Stack Cold to Day high Wind Brought Livinia a straw Hat Cleaning around the crockery and Indian curriosity Place to Day snowed some this Evening stopt here to night William the Wife and George

24th Put Out the canoe and Put out the Boat took it from the Barn Fishing  EEls Got 2 Lost 1 Hugh Ann Gordon and I went up to the Cordwood Bay in the Boat William got the EEll spear Gave the Boy 3 Herrings A Fine Day took her Jars to the Bush a lot of ice Went Down On this Day of the month Granny Departed 1869

25th St Marks Day its Raining cold East Wind Fine went to AJ Bakers Settled up with him clear of all Dues and Demands up to this Date Brought him 9 Dollars in my Debt Bought 13 yds of Plaid  at 35 cents  4 yds Cotton a 7 1/2  4 yds of cloth 2/6 per yd Thread  H Eyese RRR castor oil Braces Tobacco Rake Lining Binding Got 1 Dollar Cash to 1 Muskrat 25 cents got a Tub Bought Bottles 7 cents Pitcher 1/3
