Mr James Cameron Island May 3rd 1872
Cold some this morning Fixing the sticks at the Door the Osprey went Down the Dominion went up went to the Upper Point and around the north side of the Island Planted the Back Garden with over 50 hills of Earley Roses and the Rest in Goderich Potatoes Found a straw Hat in the Water at the Pit Point set out some Fires Lots of Cakes of ice Going Down Horses Came Dan McGreggor and John Hamilton with the Bull Left the scow
4th Fixing the chairs Raining some seen the Horses salted them
5th set the Big Traps set Fire to the marsh in spots The L Renaud came up her First Trip
6th Got a Dog Fish Gathered Some old staves of the Bottom a Fine Day John Hamilton and Young Jack here with the scow for hay Planted some Potatoes about 90 hills of Long Johns
7th Lots of ice Going Down Planting and Digging Planted 1 Row of Garnet Chilies 1 Row of Goderich on the west side of the chilies Looking for Ducks nest up in the Bay Got none New Moon to Day Fine Day wind South West Planted 5 Beds of Potato Onions and put in some squash amongst the Potatoes the Osprey and Indian went up
8 Lashey here got 3 or 4 staves Fishing to night Got 2 Sturgeon 1 Pickerel 4 Pike 5 Perch 3 succours Planted and Digging The Bay of Quinte Touring here
