23rd the Surveyors surveying the North Bay and the Barn and the House and and the East End and the South Side of the Island J McKenna here for his Stack of Marsh Hay about 2 Tons had 2 Team Brought me 90 cents From Mr Streeter for the calf skin Mr Crippin Sent By him Tea and Sweetys to the children I went to John Hamiltons for 6 1/2 Bushel of Buckwheat Got a Basin of Apples from John Willie Rose there with 2 axes to Get the handles taken out of them John Broke his own axehandle taken them out a Fine Day East Wind turned cold

24th Charlie Tuppers Birth Day and a stormy Day it is East Wind made a Machine to to cut Tobacco Drank Charlie's health to Day

25th Robie Burns Birth Day W Wind I see a Sleigh Going Down the ice I think its a Load of the surveyors it turned when it got Below the Lighthouse
