Wednesday October 4th

It rained hard last night and this morning is blowing to beat (I can't think of anything just now) all day. Daddy and I went out and had a look at the wheat and Dad thought he would run some ditches. Then we went back and we dug a basket full of potatoes and we husked a couple of shocks of corn. We got a lot over a bushel. We wanyted it for the pigs. Then we cleaned up till noon. We worked all the afternoon back of the old ouse tidying up the rubbisk so Dad can "plow" it.Mr. Vyse was ob=ver this this after noon trying to persuade Dad to cut the clover of the corner foeld for seed. Dad went over with hi. but sayshe wont bother with it as it is not worthwhile. He said the Wordson's had a great time getting off tis morning. Frank and Dick came home with a caluliflower and some celery from Mr. Smith.After tea {Margin nte} Dady spent on teachng or trymng to teach Frank his sopelling. As it has been a sou'west wind wind, it has been quite warm all day., but to-night the wind is veering. Daddymilked Fred to-day (and kept the calf away butbut she gave so littlethat he thought he would be better to let herraise rthe calf which sheis making a fine job off. She put up an awful fuss all day.
