December 1883

25 Christmas. we slept late this morning, Pap, far & Jimie were at the banquet They thought it was good, there was a purse presented to Lewis I did not hear the amount

Jenet Slack called for my contribution for the fund for prizes

Jimi Murdy and Bird went to the Social in the Hall. Jimie got a ticket from D Robertson I gave Murdy and Bird money

27 Last night was the Childrens entertainment All our children but Far were there Marion got a fine doll, Ran got a necktie and they got little bags of candy Papa sold Marriage licenses to one McIntosh The year is drawing to a close

1 A very fine day, And it is Tuesday 1884 and a leap year. Far went to Martintown
2 Stormy, snowing & blowing. I sent yarn to Mrs Stoof to make Murdy Mittens 6 oz Mrs Stoof paid $.2.00 for 1 monts rent

4 Friday Stormy no mail today The man could not come from Martintown
5 Had the mail today. There was a terriable accident on the Grand Trunk, 7 miles west of Toronto on Wednesday 29 persons Killed and wounded And There was a riot at __Orange Men were out marching when Green Met them on the road and fired and Killed four
6 Fine bright day not so cold. Mr Currie preached the week of prayer commences to night.

11 Murdy paid School fee last term and this term Bird paid this term 50 Duncan has bought the sewing Machine from Calder $.42.00 Far went to the Gore today. The Meeting was in St Hall last night and tonight Pigon is to make a pair of boots for Bird our own leather all but the outside soles 1.00 .50
