January 1884

12 Saturday very frosty this morning. we butchered Lassy Charis {Charles?} Sam was helping, but Jimie had Killed and had partly skinned before Charles came
13 Sunday snowing a little in the morning. evening, stormy lots of snow
14 very cold got 2 lbs of rice 10 cts 3 lbs barley .25
15 cold cold Mercury down to 35° Flora McLennan (Daght) was here and some old country Man
16 I did not go to Prayer Meeting. Monday night we had a Temperance Prayer Meeting, and it was very good
19 It is so cold that were are doing very little.I washed today it was Kind of warm yesterday and I melted snow, so I have a little water Far had a letter from Anne Mc{Dora?} Montreal, got 1 lb raisins 10. .10
20 Sunday I was too late with my work this morning so I did not go to church Duncan McDonald Bailiff was buried yesterday, and Duncan Murchison was buried today Bird got a French book 1.50 150
21 Not so cold still Mercury is low, was 20° below Zero this morning Mrs Cooper paid $.3.00 for rent Birdie got Bookkeeper book Sent a letter to sandy 30
