April 1885

19 Sunday fine day, over head, roads very bad. not many in church Rev Mr Barlie of Woodland, preached. Text Psalms 4-11 For the Lord is a sun & shield to them who fear him. And at evening service, he preached from Exodis where Pharoah was plauged.
20 Monday fine I went to see Donald McPherson's corpse. he died 1 A.M. I was at Aunties. on my way home I called to see Birdie Dixon she is very poorly. In the evening I went to the Rappids, the ice was going away {?} but I did not see any The river was clear
21 Tuesday running a little Bird got a pair leather boots at Dan's $1.40 Ran got a pair at Willie's $.1.
22 Finished sawing our logs the boys piled it all this forenoon Jimie went to Lancaster for Murdy. The road is covered with water from McMartins
23 Warm yesterday mercury up to summer heat and
