November 1885

1 Sunday Cold and raw. I was in Church. no minister. a sermon from Revd. A McGilliavry read by G. H. McGillivray. Text Luke 12. 15. last clause, For a man's life consiseth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth, No Prayer Meeting this evening
2 Snowing all day. The Catholics had a Mass for all who died within the year. Pa paid our account at Willie's 9.24
3 Raining today, snow going, paid our Acc. at Dan's To 1 lb tea 50 Pa sold Marriage Licences to John Calder to marry Victoria McLennan. 13
4 Ugly day. two inches of snow mixed with the ground Far is at the {Drs.?} Jimie & Pelow went to Monros Mills with two team for lumber for a shed for Pelow
5 Annie got a checque from Lindsay on The Ontario Bank for $12.00 twelve hundred dollars Anne & I were at Prayer Meeting last night. I sent a letter to Sandy & one to Murdy. rain every day, snow going.
6 Rain again today Jimie took home the spades & shovels that they were using at the ditch Far is yet at {Drs?}
7 Saturday Jimie went to plough this afternoon. Pa & Ran pulled the carrots & turnips and put them in the cellar. It was misty all day got dark about 5 and then began to rain heavily Auntie sent over a pair of socks she was making for Murdy To 1/2 gall coal oil 14 cts Far bought 2 5/8yd cloth at Willies 90 cts pr yd = 2.37
8 Sabbath. Still raining. I went to Church and it was Mr Elder, who addressed the congregation. A Dingwall Made a prayer A.C. McDonald, another. Mr Elder The closing prayer
9 It did not rain today. I made a washing. Jimie went to plough & took dinner for himself and horses. Far went to Lancaster on Harry, to get his his teeth fixed I went to see Auntie she is sick with cold
10 Another dry day. Pa & Ran. were working at shingling Dunn house. had Willie Gordon from 1/4 to 11. until evening. Far was fixing stalls for the cows. Jimie went to the ploughing. Jimie for his name engraved on this medal by John McBain, cost 50 cts
