November 1885

11 Wednesday. Another fine day, no rain. Pa finished ploughing the Dunn house. Far fixed the stalls, and got four chains for the cows 20 cts a piece. Jimie was at the ploughing. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. There was no service announced for our Church There is an account of the loss of the steamer Algoma on Lake Superior on Saturday. She struck a reef in a storm and sank. 12 Thanksgiving. Auntie & Jimie were here to dinner & tea. She has given her velvet {raque?} to Bird. Jimie & Bird were asked to Sniders to entertainments. Jimie went Bird did not
13 rain all afternoon. Jimie finished ploughing front field I took and trimmed grapes. Beef cow got a potatoe in her throat
14 Saturday evening I had a letter from Murdy today. Mrs McDonald and Kate are both sick. Ran & I covered Grapes flowers & rhurbarb Auntie got 3 yds 15 cts lining & 3 yds 40 cts of fur for Birdies jacket 1.65 This was a very fine warm day. Report: hangs Riel on Monday.
15 Sabbath. A Mr McLean a student preached today
16 I made a large washing. F.G. paid 1.50 on rent 75. for 1/2 cord wood wind is cold
17 Riel was hung yesterday Morning. greate indignation felt by mostly all the French
18 Rain today began about 11. Jimie was ploughing every day this week and part of last week. There was a meeting trying to get some fault with Willy about the P.O. French The inspector was thair. Sent a letter to Murdy and 12 dollars
19 Snow today, but melted most all off. Far is working for Auntie moving the Kitchen stair into the woodshed
20 Friday fine day Jimie was ploughing in the afternoon .
21 Sold 1/2 cord of wood to Auntie. Got home a few turnips Far & Jimie ploughing this afternoon killed 2 hens & 2 cocks

Mrs Roderick moved into Kentail House. Yesterday. $2.00 pr month

Went to Church Mr Oude peached. In the evening he was at Hepripha {Hephzibah}
