December 1885

1 Tuesday. Was a kind of a soft day. looked like snow or rain but did neither
2 To coal oil copybook for Marion 10 = Began to snow about 10 P.M. snowing heavily Got 1 bush apples from Mary Neal 25 25
3 Snow turned to kind of rain is thawing. Had a letter from Murdy. Meeting W.B.F {Womens Board of Foreign} Mission. I did not go.Met At Monroes. H.S. teacher
4 Pa & Jimie went to Lancaster. Pa got cloth to make coat & pants. 6 1/4 yds 1.25 pr yd. 7 " 82 = It is quite stormy 11-30 P.M.
5 Was stormy all day and is still storming 11.P.M. Stoof paid his rent today. Had a letter from Uncle Sandy. They are all well but Elizabeth
6 Cold morning. Rev. Grant Student, preached today mercury this morning at zero. 2 pair hinges
7 Cold & windy Mercury at 4 above zero. Far went to the Gore with Uncle Donald yesterday
8 Butchered the Cow. we got from Auntie. Sam was with Jimie. carcase weighed 460 lns. hide weighed 65 lbs
9 I was at prayer meeting. Handy is trying to organize a singing class, not many signed hooks for porch

14 Pa & Auntie went to Cornwall today. Pa bought 1 pair boots for Ran 1.75. 1 fur Cap 2.00. Auntie bought 20 yds of dress goods and gave it to Bird and I
15 Tuesday. The days are short. I baked bread today out of the flour we got out of the three bush of wheat we got from Dan {Lum?} I sent a letter to Murdy and $.15.00
