July 1886

1. Dominion day. we had our picnic Hannah started off early to try and get to Cornwall for the Games, we took a waggon and had a rough ride. Our S.S. Hired the steamer, and had a nice trip up to the Stone House point and down to a light house out in the water.
2 Friday. Our Sacrement is on Sunday. Leitch preached today. I was picking berries today.
3 Ross of Lancaster preached today, got 12 lb gran sugar coocked berries 5 lbs 1.00.
4 A large Congregation. 15 news communicants
5 Entrance examination takes place 20 bush lime 5.00
6 Examination for 3d class teachers begins today. Uncle Sanday shipped us three baskets of strawberries
8 Got the berries arrived very badly smashed got 10 lbs gran. sugar not paid 12 at Willie's preserved 13 lbs berries, The weather is very hot Mercury up to 90 & 95 George Simons cut 8 acres hay for no cost 4.00
10 To 1 lb tea at Dan's 45. bought yesterday a mowing machine from John McPherson (Nosey) $.32.00. got 1 load {rind?} Jimie drew. 50. Pa got on the 8th. felt 2.70, clapboards 10.15. Taxes that was not paid. 6.74. 20.69
11 Fine day, rained last night.
12. Pa's birthday. 66 today got 26 lbs gran sugar 2.00
13. Pa sold marriage license to a man to marry Annie Jacks, riley, daughter And Annie was running around trying to take her daughter away
14 There is an account in the papers of an earth quake in New Zealand. Around Auckland district. About 150 lives lost more than 100 miles visited. McKillop, bard, came on Monday
15 McKillop left for Martintown. Got at Dan's 15 lbs brown sugar. There is a concert in the Hall
