April
S. 1st. Helped to draw out for plowing Sawing etc.
M. 2nd. Fetched a grist from mill and took one down for Robert. Bought 5 lbs of nails for Robert and 5 cts per lb.= 25 cts. Quarter of a lb of Gunpowder two lbs of shot and a box of caps. in the agregate 471/2 cts. in the afternoon splitting wood.
T. 4th. Splitting wood.
W. 5th. Splitting wood. 10 Bushls. of Oats of C F S. at 371/2 cts. per Bushl. $3.75 cts. Robert went to mill and had them chopped. He paid the Postage on the Globe for last Quarter.
Th 6th. Splitting and chopping.
F. 7th. Chopping and getting out a peice for a yoke. One of Mr Delfs ewes had a lamb.
S. 8th. Plowing
M. 9 10th. 40 Bushls of turnips of Iden; Twenty for Two Dolrs. cash. & twenty for three days labour bt Father. 1 Peck of Onions 9 pence paid, the turnips not paid. plowing.
T. 11th. plowiing planted sugar loaf cabbage seed and large tomato seed also red peppers. ? of a lamb found dead.
W. 12th. Plowing.
Th 13th I got a plow from MacLachlin in exchange for a Note I held against him, this makes us straight to this date. Bought a box of Mercurial ointment for the cattle 10 cts. Sowed 3 acres and 1/4 of pease. Mary planted some Drum head cabbage seed. The first steamer of the season arrived today.
F. 14th. Making ready to Yoke my steers. Draging.
S. 15th. Plowing/ 23B. 10 lbs of Pease of the Craigs not Pd. Sent by Robert to James Davidson 291/2 lbs of Flour with the bag.
M. 17th. At Borns Sale. Fred came home this evening.
T. 18th. Spreading dung.
W. 19th. A letter from Uncle Fred Parker. Staple & Ring of Johny Mackintosh 871/2 cts paid sowed some pease
Th. 20th, Sowing peas something like five acres with yesterday drawing in the afternoon with my little cattle helped Robert.
