Nathaniel Edward Leeder's Day Book and Memoranda. for the year 1866 January.
M. 1st. C.F Schwendker cut a pair of pants for me. Attended the annual meeting of the Port Elgin Society of the new Jerusalem was appointed recording secretary and one of the trustees. promised two Dolrs towards the funds.
T. 2nd. G. Ruppel J. Bartels & myself as Trustees for the Society to Port Elgin held a meeting this morning, when we gave Bartels an order on the Treasurer of said Society for the sum of Four Dolrs. as pay for his services for lighting fires cleaning room etc. They agreed to allow me half a Dolr. for the wood I carried for church purposes. Barttls agreed to light fires keep room clean etc. for the present year for the sum of Four Dolrs. Hauled on One Cord and a quarter of wood for James George shoemaker on a/c.
Th. 4th. Last Monday Robert paid a balance due Moses Detweiler on a note the said Moses held against him of Two Dolrs forty five cents to Samuel Roether who marked his name off the note and also put the amount on the back of the Note but holds the note to help him in his settlement with the parties concerned. Self mending pails. Robert thrashing peas.
F. 5th. Sharped buck saw, cut some wood, thrashed in the afternoon. Robert writing letter to Margerate Wiffin.
S. 6th. Took 17 Bushls. of peas to be chopped in the afternoon helping C F S to clean up some wheat for a grist for us. Thomas Cummings paid 50 cts for the use of my bull. Robert thrashing. Besides the peas to mill we cleaned up 4 Bls. for Mr J Goble and 3
