do much tis after noon. I made a couple of legs for the corn horse out of rails and put them in I then took it out to the foeld and went over to Sam Law's and got our sickle and cut five shocks of the smutnose corn. I started in on it because it looked a little the ripest but I don't know that it really is, up at that far end of the field the grass is nearly as long as the corn so iut was a nasty job. I intended to go down to a dance to-night which the gorls are getting up for Helen Anderson who is just home for three weeks but I thought maybe I hadn't better so staye dhome. Much cooler & cloudy.
