went down to the Red Cross supper in the Town Hall I was to have called for Aunty Alice at six o'clock but I was late so she had gone so I went alone but had my tea with Diclk & Dess. There wree some dandy cakes there but as usual in such cases my stomach became incapacitated long beofr emy appetite satiated. I wernt home with with Marj. & Essie and later we went to the piucture show, we had to use brute force to get Essie past the Methodist Church as there was a prayer meeting going on and she was supposed to be there to play and we literally dragged ger away from it. It was a prayer ,eeting and as I tell her the Gwermans are praying as hard as we aeew and I suppose there are lotd pf them just aa good in God'ssight as there are of us so in all probability God will wind it up in his own way in spite of all of us. I really think about like Aunty Alice that praying and fighting sdon't go very well to-gether that if we treust so much in our own syrength wwe oughtn't to expect much help from Heaven or if we do want Divine help we should throw down our arms and pray for it, but of course that is out of the question as we are too human for that. I got a riude home with Dick & Alan
