school and Marj. and I went down later in the waggon so that we could get Jack's sprayer on the way home. We had to get some things up town including a bottle of creatin to put in the whitewash and when we got down to the lake Clare Deal told us they had just sold the last bag of lime that if we had been there at nine o'clock we could have got some, however we met Chris. on the way over and he said they had some we could borrow. It was noon when we went in after the tank but I got {Name?} to help me load it. I felt tough after dinner for quite awhile in fact all the after noon but mixed up some whitewash and about four o'clock got Marj. to help me as Dad. had gone down after Tim. Marj. put on overalls and an old raincoat and came out but although I pumped and pumped nothing happened except that I kept feeling rottener and eventually we quit trying. Dad. tried to make it go but had no better luck than we did. Fine day.
Thursday October 13th
I thought I felt a little better this morning and went down to the corner with Dad. when he drove Tim to school and went down to Maertin's to find out why the sprayer wouldn't work. I saw Chris. and he said it probably needed priming and explained how to do it. I came home and primed it and it did work all right then except that a lot of the juice cam eup through the pump at the piston rod. Dad. fixed that so that it ran back into the barrel so we didn't waste much. Dad. and I sprayed and mixed whitewash the biggest part of the day but we got all the chicken house well soprayed and took the pump back. Marj. went o to a party at Mrs. Jack Martin's this after noon at which Elsie won the bridge prize. Marj. wet dooen to Aunty's for tea and then over to the teacher's meeting. I went down after tea intendimng to go to a special band practice they were having to get their lips up for Donnybrook Fair on Saturday, but by the time I got to Aunty's I felt too miswerable to go on up. Walter came back to-day from Hamilton where he has been as lay delegate to the General Synod, but as he, Aunty Alice and Elsie were up at Cousin Bessie's I didn't see him as I felt to tough to waiut and Marj. and I came home soon after she got down from bible class. Lovely day.
