Tuesday December 13th
Owing to procrastination, laziness & cold weather I will have to make a skip of a week but as there has been very little of any importance going on, I guess the furute hostory of theis 187 acres of the earth's surface won't suffer much. I have no tbee n getting up so early this week so couldn't write before breakfast as I have been doing so it has been too miserable to do any thing but chores and nearly ever y day this last week we have just sat arounf dor an hour or two after dinner and read. The weatherhas been rotten. Cloudy mostly and generally raw wingds and terribly muddy. Dad. and I moved some rails over in the barn and covered them with strasw and got in one small jag of corn stalks but the cornfoeld was so boggy we couldn;t take. ateam on it for a real load. The smow that was on the ground early last week is all gone now but ti-day it is colder and there was a little flurry of snow last night. Jack McBride wa soin on Saturdday and bought the wetherlambs for 9 cts a lb. and we took them down yesterday They averaged about 84 lbs apiece & the nine of them
