He is very illiterate but noot in the keastr vi=ulgar and although his humor woulk sound very silly from mkst people and his sentimental touchs is soft, it seems to suit him very well. He coukdn't rwad or write tu=ill after he waa grown up and his little boy got him to go to Sunday school but he has been well educated by exoperience & observation and what he ahs done with wild geese and other bitrds is wondersy=ul J He is a philanthropist because although he gest help now from the Government for a long time protected the wild geese & ducks at his own expense and one uear fed them 1500 bushels of corn. He showed us slides of his birds and his farm and I must have it fixed up very nocely. He had a 2 1/2 acre ball ground just for trhe oys and Ty Cobb who works was visiting the place one day told him he thought it wa sone of the nicest little diamonds he hadever seen, that pleased jack very mych. One fellow said to him once that the thought ut ewas all very nice but could see where he was making it pay.
