thin frozen crust on it and it was snowing & blowing a regular blizzard. It came out fairly sunny for part of the day but there was a snow storm at intervals. The wind which came from the nor'west has been increasing in velocity all day and to-night appears to be trying to tear the house to pieces. It is also freezing hard to-night. I didn't do much outside the ordinary routine of chores this morning except climb up to the attic and get some things for Marj. which were stowed away and which she needs in preparing for Patricia's advent. I also moved a sitting hen from the chicken house to the colony house, where if she remains firm in her maternal intentions I intend to set her, and I got some earth into the house to prepare for planting tomato seeds. I intended going over to Cam. McBride's this after noon to get a setting of eggs but I went to sleep instead and didn't do anything all the after noon. It was too cold and rough anyway.

Friday February 27th

The wind has been very strong all day and bitterly cold. Every thing is frozen up tight again. It is not blowing so hard to-night but it is clear and frosty. I went over to Cam's this morning and got a dozen eggs and put them under
