McIntosh down there and called her Mr. Battersby. We went home before five and I took him over to the farm as Enah wanted him home to get him ready for bed before church time. Tim & Frank were the only ones home and Tim said Dad. & Enah were up at St. John's I don't know what for unless to look at Great-Grandfather's tomb-stone. Dad. had another letter from England acknowledging his cable-gram and saying that Mr. Parks had booked his passage on the Montroyal which would sail on the 9th. I noticed in yesterday's paper that Lord Willingdon who is bringing the old French shield back to the city of Quebec fom the town of Hastings in England where it has been ever since Wolfe captured the citadel is sailing on the same boat. Froze hard, nice day cold wind.

Monday April 6th

Tom and I got in a full day on the road to-day without getting very much done, but it was a fine day and there was quite a traffic and many stopped to talk. We finished levelling this morning giving the bad ruts an extra lick and we worked at the ditch on the hill all after noon. Froze hard last night but fine day. Pickford says Guy Teeple was to start seeding to-day. Top is drying fast

Tuesday April 7th

Tom and I worked all day on the hill and called our job done although it doesn't look very neat, but we have a kind of ditch down each side of the road which lets the water run down instead of seeping into the road. Frank was oit fior awhile and threw the sods out of the rewst of the ditch along the corner field. Pickford disked his hill to-day and it seemed to wok up fine. He was telling us that Evan;s man left yesterday. He wanted more than $10. a month, and Evans wouldn;t give it as he had a greded to put in the year at that wage. Pickford had heard of Mrs. Evans giving John a drop on whiskey when he had broncitis the othert day and he was giving us his opinion of the damned hypocrite of prohibiotionists in. no uncertain terms. Fair & quite hot>
