The big attraction was a horse race at least it was for us as we all had money up We paid a quarter apiece for a chance without seeing the horses and if we drew the head horse won half a dollar. Min came in about 25 yards ahead so nothing would do but Frankie and & I had to treat the band, with the winnings accordingly we poole dour half dollars ad got a dollar's worth of 5 ct cigars and as the band was by no means full strength everybody got one, and I found two in my hat when I got home.
