The big attraction was a horse race at least it was for us as we all had money up We paid a quarter apiece for a chance without seeing the horses and if we drew the head horse won half a dollar. Frankie Lemmons and I each drew Oh! Min! and Oh! Min came in about 25 yards ahead so nothing would do but Frankie and & I had to treat the band, with the winnings accordingly we poole dour half dollars ad got a dollar's worth of 5 ct cigars and as the band was by no means full strength everybody got one, and I found two in my hat when I got home. We got a good suppe rof ham sandwichs and pie & cake but tnhere was no cream or sugar for our tea. We played a few pieces after tea but quit before our time was up as it stated to sprinkle, it halooked had been threatening all day but by now ot looked as if it meant business and it did.
