Tuesday January 19th
Marj. was up all day to-day but as Ina was here didn't have to move around much so feels much better to-night. Ina worked like a nailer all day and has the house shining from one end to the other. I went down town before dinner and got some feed @ Bill Laings and some coal oil. I had dinner at Aunty's and was in at the farm for about an hour. Dick is not home yet. They expect him to-morrow to go with Dad. to New York on Friday. I drove Ina home to-night and spent the evening trying to balance my last years books. As near as I can make out the farm went about $60.00 in the hole if I deduct interest on money invested. Of course I am in the hole a good deal more than that, but that is couning living expenses. Gay was sick at her stomach to-night just like Harry B. mild.
Wednesday January 20th
It has been very mild and spring like all day so I put the sheeting on the wood shed roof and got three courses of shingles laid on the north side. Neither Marj. nor I felt very well all day Marj. was quite bilious we don't know why and I have a sore throat, but the kids seem to be all right. My calf was bloated up badly to-night so I didn't feed her.
Thursday January 21st
It turned a little colder during the night and snowed a little but has been quite mild all day, thawing but cloudy. To-night however there is a wild north-east wind howling and it is very much colder I haven't felt much like working all day so haven't worked at anything but chores, and just sat around and read all day. Archie Lang came in about noon to get his money for the hay I bargained for. To-night I couldn't remember whether I buttoned the horse-stable door or not so went out and found that I hadn't and the horses were out and had upset the chicken feed and spilled all the oats, nearly a bushel I think.
