told me that they had decided to suspend practice till after the rink closed. I sat talking to him for awhile and then went down and visited Aunty till about half past ten. Aunty Alice was up at the Freeman's with Quint playing bridge. They had a letter from Dad & Dick to-day saying that they arrived in New York safely. Cold, cloudy little snow.

Tuesday January 26th

I walked over home this morning and in spite of a rather high wind Frank and I managed to get on a fair jag of straw from the stack and it over to the horse stable. I drove home here to dinner and this after noon I drove Marj. down town and she went to Miss Kerney's funeral. Ina looked after all the kids while we were gone and I drove her home before tea. I went back to the farm from town to wait for Marj. but a very nasty east storm had developed and it was altogether too rough for Frank and me to attempt hauling in any corn stalks so we went over to Pickford's. Mrs. P. told us Jack was having a bee getting some wood in his own bush but we didn't go back. She invited us to have some cider so we sat talking to her till about four and just as we were leaving Pickford came in and insisted on
