the straw, but there is a high wind to-night from the south west. To-day's paper tells of a terrible storm on the North Atlantic and mentions the Mont Royal along with other liners having reached New York badly mussed up. She docked yesterday so Mr. Parks would be two days later.
Thursday January 28th
Now it so befell that to-day a great blizzard raged.This our cot hath been beatedn and buffeted by such a wind and ever and anaon hath given voice to divers, groans and creakings a wols make one think that he rtimbers must forsooth be torn asunder. With out there hath been such a swirl and haburl of wind and riving snow and bitter cold withal, that truly I had not set foot o'er thresshold had it not been for the necessity of fof=ddering the cattle andfetching the fuel pokohontas. I whiled at the time away u sitting buy the fire and reading aloud Sir John Dering by Jeffrey Farnol, while Marj. baked bread, and had fair luck in soite of the weather. It took all day to rise and she baked it this evening. I did not turn the cows down to the creek to-day as it is pile dhigh with snow drifts but carried water to them
