Friday October 22nd

Rained all forenoon so I didn't do much but help Marj. get straightened around in the house. George & Frank cleaned out the chicken pens. Frank went to Simcoe with the Pickford's this after noon and George & I went down and got a load of hard coal but broke the waggon tongue trying to back it into the wood shed.

Saturday October 23rd

I was out home most of the day and got the snow apples picked. Quint and Avery Bush were out there and got the stairs built up to the attic. They spent most of the day I think figuring out how to do the job. George took the after noon off and took Ada for a car drive up to see the Reforestry station. Fine day.

Sunday October 24th

I was all in to-day with a cold, and didn't do anything. George & Frank went to church. Frank came home to do noon chores and then he & Irene drove to Port Rowan and came back here for tea. It was pouring rain most of the day, but weather doesn't seem to affect their plans in the least.

Monday October 25th

George and Frank took Dicky Smith down to the car this morning and got $60.00 out of Niel Elliot for her. Niel bought her the other day for $55.00 but came over this morning and asked Frank if we were going to bring her down and raised the price 5.00 when Frank said we weren't. Frank lied as we had her in the stable and would have started out with her in another half hour, but shady dealings with Niel seem almost justifiable. Frank & George drove Marj. & the kids over to see Mrs. Lampkin this after noon and then went over to Roy Hammond's to get the tractor but couldn't get her to work. Marj. said Mrs. Lampkin was overjoyed to see her and nearly hugged her head off. I went down to band practice to-night. Rotten cold day.

Tuesday October 26th

Frank & George hauled up the binder which has been sitting in the back out field since before Dad. left. Art. Quanbury came over and sized up the cow stable roof situation, it caved in on Sunday & we have to make temporary repairs for the winter. George & I cleared up the debris this afternoon while Frank was getting chicken feed etc.
