Thursday, April 7th,1872 weather fine and pleasant.finished sec.no.two

Monday, April 7th,1879 weather fine & clear but still cold and sharp frost. in fact, there is no appearance of spring.only for the ever decresing straw stacks,it would pass for fine Dec.weather. boys still sawing and wood.

Tuesday,April 8th weather fine,south wind,and clear sun,thawing fast. had a poor sleepess night,and feel week nervous today wrote letters yesterday to Maggie capt.Middleton. the M.D. has not yet made his appearance,thouh advertised in Beaver as being on his way, but I cannot think that any resident M.D can succeed on this island until we all get better off and a combined movement be made in the direction of encouragement

Wednesday, April 9th Dr.M.arrived last night.in the morning has driven him around to see various parties, but as the roads are breaking up, it is not a favorable time for a meeting to start
