Tuesday, April 30, 1872

Tuesday June 24th 1879

I feel unable to read or to criticise anything. I wtote to Maggie and invited her to come,but have received no answer.I hope to have word before the end of the week. the brain seems badly disordered and even my speech and memory is thoroughly upset. doubtful if I can write any time hereafter. she must come and visit if possible. my own weakness is a happy outcome and little satisfaction. read answer from Maggie but she declines to visit during the summer, but will come after harvest.

Wednesday June 25th

Ben Carter this day passed away. looking back over 35 years his life has been a peculiarity. for 3 years he has been severely affected.

Friday June 27th

Samuel Mcwatters reached peace & quietness. for a whole year he had suffered fearfully, and until the last 2 weeks was in continual pain. buried on Saturday.
