Friday August 29th 1879
feel very bad,so indeed I feel that this will be my last record. I have better forgotten my speech, my spelling and language, and has this passed away-farewell dear Maggie. I will never be able to write or see you also. ah,oh, was our last-and what can I say to all you ones at home only, God bless you all, May George,Hugh,John, dear Annie & Susie I hope the boys will be able to keep the entire family together, also the old man together God will bless you if you can accomplish (this), and will prosper your labors. and oh, take care of your mother, our seperation will not be long, I go to join dear Nelly, I only wish I were quickly under the sod but you have the best of life still before you, fight it as bravely as you can, and not be beaten, but I hope to have opportunities of speaking to you all before the close, farewell. Sunday Aug 31st had a pleasant visit from Burnett stayed over the day and left on Monday, had all the work, and is certainly a handsome, and agreeable woman, Burnett to all appearance made a wise choice, she is like a child but full of work, spirit
