18th of July 1898 Fine Mowing in above the Lane Began to Rain Thunder and Lightning the 3 of them went to Lemays Raffle of a Sowing Machine Genie came Fishing Raffle did not got on till next Monday Gordon Leander Sissy went to the Raffle Livinia not very well
19th Fernandez Birth Day 1874 a very Fine warm Day awful hot Mowing in Upper Feild next the Fence to the Wet Place Genie went off they came from the Raffle
20th Mowing Made a stack of Fine Hay Lewis took home the Augur But not the axe verry very warm cutting up at the Hicory Trees in the Upper Field 47 coils made Helen Burton and Minnie came Tommy Montor Put them Down from Hamiltons Rain Passed awful heat
21st very Fine EW Mr and Mrs Paris Here with Peter Beck a Rowing them He is Editor of the New York and took my Ad Took the Bull Lewis's on the {illegible} {bottom line torn away} very Fine

22nd of July 1898 very Fine very warm Mowing Marsh hay in the Upper Field Made 22 coils Leander crofsed to Mr Douquetts with 2 Tubs of Butter each Tub 39 lbs a peice of Great crowd at Jo's had to make Beds in the Parlour on the Floor East Wind Washed my Feet cut my nails
23rd Fine verry very hot at Times Thunder Rained heavy to the South Seen Billy Bowen yesterday near the head of the Island Dr Harknefs sent a viol of Medicine with Fernandez to his Mother
24th very Fine Day Leander crofsed with Gordon he is working at Jacks Fernandez came and Went off
25th Fine Putting Hay in the North End of the Stable out of the upper Field Filled the North End Lewis here Paid For Eggs he got in the Spring some Rain Windy Livinia some Better Birds commencing Bad at Pease oats and Grain
26th very Warm Mowing at the Lower End of the North Marsh Ionia and I for a Load of Rubbish around the Island a Man here for Bates Leander Went to Dundee Bought 3 Tubs Syth {illegible} Hocky {illegible} Balls 75 cents
