Marj. didn't want any. I have been doing house work all day and the house looks like it. It is a good thing Marj. is in bed and can't see it or she would be sicker than she is. Fortunately for us Frank came out this fore noon and got the apples for Dorrie & Phyl and took them down and expressed them for us, so we sent word by him to the doctor and he came out this after noon. He told Marj. to stay in bed for a couple of days and he thought she could go to the Christmas dinner all right but as it is at the farm on the day before Christmas which is the day after tomorrow we very much doubt if Marj. will get to it. I went over to the school house this fore noon to tell Mabel we couldn't have her over to dinner and that we wouldn't be able to get the kids over to her Christmas tree concert this after noon. She sent over a present for each of them a ball for the baby a broom & dust pan for Gay and a drawing book for Harry B. and in the mail we got a rattle a doll and a top, which we figured out was from Ina so they have had a great time with their new toys. I didn't get much done in the way of outside chores. I milked about two o'clock. Some of the young ones from the school came over this after noon to take Harry B. over to the concert but he wasn't dressed up and I couldn't get him ready so he didn't go. He didn't know about it so didn't miss it.
Wednesday December 23rd
I managed to get the kids dressed and fed and some breakfast for myself by about nine o'clock this morning and then Frank arrived so I turned the job of getting Marj's breakfast over to him and I went to do a few chores outside. (Frank brought a copy of a cablegram from Mr. Parks. - No, as Bill Donald would say I have got ahead of my story. I am writing this a week late and just got mixed.). Frank just brought some soup over from Enah and set to work to cook it as soon as he got here. Marj. was very anxious that I should get my hair cut before Christmas so suggested Frank staying here this after noon while I went down, so Frank always agreeable to anything suggested that I go down before dinner and as he had driven Joe over said for me to take her back and get some potatoes at Art Ryerse's on my way. It was about eleven when I left here and by the time I got the potatoes and got to the farm it was after twelve but as Dad. was busy drawing the big Christmas turkey, which as usual Huby provided, we didn't have dinner till about one and then Dad. and I walked down town. I went into Bob. Leaney's and Mackenzie was there alone but as he said Bob. would be in any minute I waited. I sat there for about two hours and was just ready to step
