May 1927. 29 Sunday. Cloudy. Cold east wind. We went to church & S.School this afternoon. Our companuy for tea - Mr & Mrs. Otto Miller and norman. Otto took us all for a ride in his new McLaughlin. 30 Monday. Changeable. The men plowed and worked up the mangel ground. Ella hoed in the garden and planted corn, beans, muskmelon, pumpkin, sunflower, hollyhocks, {annual chrysanthemums, columbines, canterbury bills?} and four o'clocks. 31 Tuesday. Cold, windy & drizzly. Walter sowed the mangels today. Ella worked in the garden and planted beets, radishes, cucumbers, watermelon and crop beans also calendula and dwarf hollyhucks. Grandpa Krauter came here tonight. Vernon plowed this p.m.
