Otto took us all for a ride in his new McLaughlin. 30 Monday. Changeable. The men plowed and worked up the mangel ground. Ella hoed in the garden and planted corn, beans, muskmelon, pumpkin, sunflower, hollyhocks, {annual chrysanthemums, columbines, canterbury bills?} and four o'clocks. 31 Tuesday. Cold, windy & drizzly. Walter sowed the mangels today. Ella worked in the garden and planted beets, radishes, cucumbers, watermelon and crop beans also calendula and dwarf hollyhucks.
