There has been a new holy day, Kept this summer for the first time in Canada called Empire day, to be observed by schools & colleges, to teach children the history of their country and to be patriotic. It is to be Kept on the 23rd of May, the day before the Queen's birthday. There has been nothing said about the day, after Victoria dies it will likely be observed the day before her successors birth day. It was celebrated in fine style in Montreal on the 23, over 1000 children singing, patriotic And national songs. Observed chiefly by protestant schools Murdy came home last evening, heard Sousa's band

1. Thursday. Fine day, high wind. I went to the W. meeting at John Dingwalls R.R. walked as far as A.C little house at the turn of the road when Mrs. A. C overtook me and gave me a ride. My off 25 cts 10. for Birdie 10 for my presbyterial fee. Gave 25 cts to Mrs. Jim Dingwall for W. C. T. U. Called on Mrs. McGruer 25 20 25
2 Fine day, To sausages 26 Beckstead Lillian McLennan called at gate. Planted beans, pole & bush.
3 Fine day looks like rain.
4 Not many in church. Heavy rain last night
5 I am not feeling too well, Birdie is sick. Cold

11. Fine day. I was in Church. Rev. P. Watson preached. Mrs. McDougald and Mary of Alexandria came to stay over night
12 Murdy left at 6 A.M. for Glen Robertson. Mrs. McDougald & Mary left at noon. To 1 lb raisins 6 cts 2 cans salmon 28. 1 can tomatoes 10 44
