Went to Turners for a little flour but could not get it. Cutting fire wood and Underbrushing. Saturday 23rd Morning, Cold but fine Milder in the course of the day. Went to the mouth; settled with Calder £7.7.6 due him for store goods and provisions. Paid £2.7.3 d. for 8 1/2 yds of Canadian Cloth 1 shillings worth of thread 4 pounds of shot at 7 1/2 per lbs. 3 boxes of gun caps at 5 per box. Paid 2 s.6 d. to Tailor for cutting out 2 pair of trousers. Sunday 24th Mild and lowering in the morning but sun shine for a considerable part of the day: thawing very fast. Monday 25th Getting up sweeds all day it being mild and pleasant. Robert broke Iden's turnip knife. In the evening I settled up accounts with Iden for the past year money due him in all £14.7.61/2 Potatoes £5.0.0. and bill for fish stomaching [[?]] 9.7.61/2 d. I gave two Notes payable to Iden in order on demand. one of accounts are ignored for the past year. The notes are dated from 26th. Tuesday 26th White frost but got out mild during the day; Got all the sweeds that could be see: ground corn Phillip doing odd jobs. Wednesday 27th Extremely mild with slight frost in the evening. Underbrushing Fred cutting stumps. Thursday 29th Mild and wet but in the after part of the day extremely cold with snow. Shelling corn. Making one handle grinding corn etc. Friday 30th Fining stove. Went to Turners 1/2 barrel and 12 pounds of flour £1.1.0 273/4 of Beff at 41/2d. S 10.41/2d. 8 lbs tallow S 6.8 d. 6 d paid me.
