and out to the end of the dock. Windy and cool but beautiful. Called for Jean and while Charles & Mr. Mickle went up to the Mouth of the river, Mrs. Bell, Jean and I went Shopping. Jean tried on boots and then we had ice cream. Started home about 4 p.m. and got home a few minutes after 5. Raining when we left Southampton and had a couple of showers on the way home. Paisley Fair out in great stir as we passed through the village. After tea Dorothy and I went to the Bijou to see "Haunting Shadows" (taken from "The House of a Thousand Candles.") Enjoyed it but not as good as the book. Cut out my centrepiece after tea. Fire in grate.
