dinner at Hartley House. (on way out of Chesley watched a tractor plough at work). Went to Jail to see Mr. Green. 1st visit to a Jail. Very gloomy -undesirable place of residence. Mr. Green asked about Mrs. Green and then told me the history of dope given to him. He is evidently most unhappy and greatly worried. One could not but pity him and realize it was all very real to him. Went for a walk -8 ½ miles - out to McCarrel's School and twice over block from 2nd concession to 4th concession. Had six offers of rides. After tea called on Mrs. Green and write to Clare and Winifred Ferguson and went to station with Dorothy to post my letters.
Friday Oct. 15th.
Beautiful warm day. Wrote a letter for Charles. Knit 25 rows on Dorothy's skirt. Dorothy and I called at Mrs. Crow's amd Mr. Murphy's for addresses then called on Mrs.
