1920 January 19. Monday. Miss Pearce still away so I went to the office in the morning. At noon I practised ½ hour. Went to Miss Milne's to fit my dress and then to the office where I worked until six o'clock. Miss Pearce came home in the afternoon train which got in about 5 p.m. (The late train Saturday night got to Chesley Sunday night at 10 p.m.) After tea I went to Nolan's to tell Mrs. Nolan we would not be able to go to her card party to-morrow night. Charles went up the hill for a walk and Duncan came back with him. I practised an hour. Slept inside. January 20 Tuesday. Went to the office this morning and waster a great deal of time (interruptions) before I got my work. After dinner went over to Will Halliday's to invite Mrs Grant & Mrs. Halliday to dinner to-morrow night. Very stormy. Went down town for cream, ham and called and invited Mrs. Crow to dinner. A Mr McKay there who is "a fine singer". When I
