chosen Judge of A mach of plowing which took place on the Farm of Eward
Howard of Elizabethtown between Mr. Morton of County of Leeds his Man was
Henry Paterson and Mr orbit of the State of New York his Mans Name unknown
for a purse of fifty Dollars Mr Stelwell was Mr Orbits Judge and I was Mr
Mortons Mr Willson of Brockville recommended Mr Hough as the third man the
decision was that the British plowman did the best work as A whole and was
entittled to the purse the Ameracan plowman in commencing his ridge or cut
the tow first furs about four inches deep & eleven wide & from one to tow
inches apart & very uneven the next tow furs was laid up well about 6 inches
deep which left A very uncemely sentre or crown the rest of the ridge was laid
rather flat the finishing furr was entirely to deep it looked like a dich Petersons
ridges looked well but when you came to examing them the furrs was laid so
close that you might run your hand along betwen the furrs his furr was cut
betwen five and six inches deep & eight broad We considered Patersons the
Best as A whole & gave a cheke to Paterson for the fifty {dollars}

alternate rows of potatoes.
June 27 Minister from Kingston preached at opening of new church at Brockville.
June 29 Agriculture meeting at Brockville.
July 13 Agriculture meeting at Brockville.
Aug. 12 Sold 2 boxes of honey at Brockville 7 ½ d per pound.
Sept. 7 Agriculture meeting at Brockville Court House.
Oct. 1 Father, Jock and John Rowson went to mouth of lake and in presence of Samuel
Yonge, Samuel Rowson and Thomas Davis forbid old Mr. Coleman to make a dam because it
would flow the water on their land.

Oct. 12 Took first premium on spring wheat and barley, second on oats, first on flax, first on

Oct. 13 Dr. Richman Robinson and me were appointed judges at the plowing match.

Steel. Did not get them. John Hogan was sworn chain bearer in place of Wm. H. Davis.
Oct. 19 George Thompson came to joint Jock’s chamber floor.
Oct. 20 Paid Frances Jones 4 pounds for the survey.
Oct. 26 Sold barley – 7 dollars for 14 bushels. Joseph Stewart went over the land that we
expect Colman to flow. Sowed 90 point of wheat that had taken Canada Company
premium.

Nov. 3 Father had George Purvis look at low land. We had heard he was for Colman.
Nov. 4 A number of men here to-day to examine land to be flowed.
