Mr. Stilwell was Mr. Orbit’s judge and I was Mr.Morton’s. Mr. Willson of Brockville recommended Mr. Hough as the third man. The decision was that the British plowman did the best work as a whole and was entitled to the purse. The Ameracan plowman in commencing his ridge or cut the tow first furs about four inches deep and eleven wide and from one to tow inches apart and very uneven the next two furs was laid up well about 6 inches deep which left a very uncemely sentre or crown the rest of the ridge was laid rather flat the finishing furr was entirely to deep it looked like a dich. Peterson’s ridges looked well but when you came to examine them the furrs was laid so close that you might run your hand along between the furrs his furs was cut between five and six inches deep & eight broad. We considered Patersons the best as a whole and gave a cheke to Paterson for the fifty dollars. |
