Sept 1st 1904 J took cream Henry Culitvated in sod A helped Johny Reesor thresh AM A & Henry helped Flavius draw in Oats PM J worked on sod PM Flavius whole family Called after supper Warmer a very heavy shower after dark no thunder there is a very heavy battle going on in the far East about a half Million of men engaged

2 Boys Cleaned seed Wheat A took 7 bags Barley to Davids AM they spread dung PM W. a very very heavy rain awhile this Morning distant thunder Creek running Briskly I took Nancy & Mary to G Gower's to see their Baby PM

3 A & Henry ganged in big field J Chored & raked Out stubble south of bush I went to Ceder Grove & brought home some Chop AM W. fine not very warm

Sunday 4 all went to Meeting at Hebron remarks by C Burkholder sermon on St Luke 22nd 23 C by Br C Lords Supper was Celebrated David's were here to dinner Benj'ns Came after dinner Young folks went to Peters to supper Thomas Dillers & Flavius's were here after supper W. a little Cloudy this Morning fine & Cler today

yesterday. the Japanese are victorious the fighting was Continued for ten days Port Arthur is expected to fall soon

6 A & henry helped Benj'n draw dung all day with team J worked on wheat ground I & nancy & Susanna started to go to Br S's but they were not at home so we went to Flavius to dinner W. very fine

Sunday 11 I & Nancy & Susanna went to Elias's to dinner A & Lucinda went to Meeting at Altona, Henry & Anne went to Davids last evening & staid all night then they went to Christian Brillingers today to dinner & to Levi Burkholder's (Christian's son) to supper W. quite warm & sultry

12 A helped JD's fill dung J & Henry helped Flavius plow at Pearses for Wheat I helped girls wash & went to Ceder Grove AM W. very very fine & Cooler

13 A filled dung at JD's J & Henry Plowed for Flavius I & Susanna went to Markham AM Joseph Shirks were here to dinner W. very fine Cler & Cool pretty strong East wind

16 J & Henry finished Plowing south of bush & began north of bush a piece that was not ganged A helped Flavius thresh AM & helped Benj'n drain PM I got Horse Billy shod on hind foot AM W. Cool strong SW wind heard that Abraham Lehmans wife died this Morning

17 Boys drew dung on NE Corner field loads Benj'n & his man helped with team W. fine Cool

Sunday 18 all went to funeral of A Lehman's wife at Widemans Sermons by C Burkholder & Bro C Br C spoke on 1st Cor part of 15th C F Elliot spoke too I & A Nancy Susanna & ABs went in spring waggon we went to Br inlaw Saml Hoover's Henry Anne & Lucinda went with Flavius. Colt J went with Our Buggy & Billy W. Cloudy warm a shower Coming home

19 J took 4 live hogs 690 bls to Markham for Hornshaw @ $5.00 per cwt AM other boys drew dung loads Benj'n & his Man helped with team AM Flavius & his Man helped with team PM I helped girls wash AM W. very fine Cler Cool.

J took 5 bags barley to David's PM W. a heavy shower at noon some thunder pretty heavy clap struck W Carten's barn on 3rd Con Pickering & burned it down it was occupied by his Brother Benjamin's about the whole Crop was burned the Implements were saved Johny Reesor's brought Wendell Bauman & wife & Absolom Martin & wife and two little boys from Waterloo to stay all night

21 A drew dung Henry helped Benj'n draw dung AM he drew at home PM they go it nearly all out J Picked Golden sweet apples PM he went to see Lapps after dinner & they will buy them W. Cler cool a white frost last night

22 A & Henry plowed J took Craven he Picked apples then he took 27 bags Golden Sweet to Lapps @ he took them with Grey Billy & Benj'ns horse W. fine Cler a slight frost last night Henry went for Medicine to Dr Susanna is not so well

23 J & Henry Plowed they got into Wheat stubble single Plowing Henry Plowed for Benj'n PM A worked at stable putting in the windows I got a shoe put on Billy & brought home some Chop PM W. very fine, East wind

30 J & Flavius Plowed Henry spread dung A went to Toronto 7 Barrels Apples 80 cts each for 5 Bals 75 cts for 1 65 cts for 1 he took 4 Baskets 20 cts for 3 & 15 for 1 I brought load of Chop home AM & another PM W. very fine & Cler a very strong NW wind Cool tonight

Oct 1 A shocked some Corn they Cut a few rounds East of Creek then J & Henry ganged in NE Corner field AM (they are ganging the dung down) Henry helped Peter thresh PM I & A ganged J & Nancy went to see Grandmother she had a bad spell is up again (she is at Enos's yet) W. Cool Cler a very strong NW wind all day J went to Beefring Meeting at M Barkeys this evening he drew No 7 for us next year

Sundy 2 all went to Meeting at Hebron except J (he has Cold) remarks by Br C Sermon on {blank space} by C Burkholder Enos Nighswander & family & MN & Danls & Marty were here to dinner & Elias's to supper W. a strong Cold NW wind

3 Henry helped Peters thresh J & A Pulled Mangels & drew in 7 loads I helped Anne wash AM I gathered Melons & Early Cabbage & took in the Beets out of front garden W. still a Cold NW Air

4 Boys Cut Corn East of Creek & then Pulled & drew one load of Mangels AM A helped Andrew Dimma fill silo PM J & Henry took in 2 loads Mangels PM I took 5 bags Chop to Davids PM W. very fine this morning Clouded up drizzly rain awhile PM slight front last night

5 A helped A Dimma finish filling silo till about 9 AM J Cut Corn below house awhile

7 Boys & Anne wen to David's then Called to see Grandmother she is pretty well Then they went to Markham they Came home early I took grist to David's after dinner W. Cler, Cool, sharp air from East

8 Henry helped G Dimma fill silo till after dinner awhile then they Came to Benj'ns J & A Chored then they began to Cut Corn about 10 AM they Changed Horses and J finished it about 3 PM A went to Benj'ns with team about 3 PM & helped W. Cloudy Some Showers AM Cloudy PM shower this evening Milder there was a heavy frost yesterday Morning the Corn is frozen

Sunday 9 at home Elisabeth Stover & Br C's Becca's sister Leah Steiner from Pa were here to dinner Leah is here at Br C's on a visit

10 A & Henry helped Benj'n finish filling silo before dinner J took Cream then he & A & Henry helped Thomas fill silo at Gavin's PM Daniels were here to dinner Adeline stays to help the silo fillers are here tonight Levi Ramer Herman and Delos Reesor W. warm strong wind Clouded up towards evening quite a few shower's after dark distant thunder rained very heavy, and sharp lightning

11 filled our Silo got done before 6 O'clock was bothered some with the Pipes stopping the Corn was wet & sloppy W. Cloudy mild. Daniel Came for Adeline this evening Mary was here all day

12 A & Henry went to help Flavius fill his silo they Came home before dinner rained nearly all day J took grist to David's & got Billy's front shoes set AM we cleaned some barley to take out the Timothy seed PM & Henry took a load to Davids toward evening Dr Called to see Susanna she is not so well

13 A & henry helped Flavius fill silo with team got done soon after dinner then they pulled Mangels J took Cream then he ganged W. fine Cler PM

14 A & Henry Pulled Mangels J ganged awhile then helped the boys & they finished Pulling Mangels till noon then they drew in 17 loads PM W. fine & Cler

15 Boys finished drawing mangels 9 loads AM that Makes 45 loads then they shocked Corn & drew a load to AB's PM I & Nancy started after dinner & went to JB's he has had another bad spell but is up again then we went to C Burkholder's to supper & then to Hermans & staid all night W very very fine & Cler sharp frost last night

Sunday 16 went to Meeting at Widemans suitable sermons by C Burkholder & Br C for the Celebration of Lords Supper Menno Burkholder's Daughter Martha was Baptised went to Widow Anne Barkeys to dinner, then Called at Enos's to see Grandmother, she is quite well W. very very fine warm & Cler sharp Air White frost last night A Henry & Anne were in Meeting too J took Susanna to Elias's & he went to Hermans to dinner

17 A helped G Maxwell fill silo AM J & Henry Picked Winter Apples AM then they dug the Potatoes PM they are badly rotted. W. very fine & Cler white frost last night I helped Anne wash AM

18 J ganged in Mangel ground A & Henry Picked winter Apples W. very very fine & Cler

AM brought home another load of Chop & then brought Susanna home PM W. rather Cloudy & pretty warm Flavius & Fanny helped us Peel Apples tonight There has been a terrible Battle in the East About 400,000 men engaged, the Russian lost about 40,000 Men Killed or wounded but they are Pushing the Japs pretty hard.

21 Boys spread dung & gagned it down in NE Corner field A took bags Cider Apples & 10 Pails of Peeled Apples to Lapps this Morning but the Mill was full & he brought the load home again we take it over in the Morning & they will make our sauce I brought home 2 loads of Chop from Davids today W. a slight rain this morning Cler today a strong squaal of Wind & heavy shower about 4 PM not long, a heavy rain last night

22 Boys finished ganging in NE field AM & began in Pasture field behind Cider house PM A took Apples to Lapps this morning & left them they are so busy we will not get the sauce before Wednesday W. Cool a slight squaal of sleet this evening

Sunday 23 A Henry & Anne went to Jacob Reesors to dinner J went to Flavius to dinner I Nancy & Susanna went to AB's to dinner I Nancy & Susanna went to AB's to dinner W. fine

24 A & Henry Plowed J Picked Apples I went to Meeting house & helped M Barky & Albert Make a new stand AM I went to Ceder Grove & to Davids & brought Chop W. Cool E wind, cloudy

26 A worked in stable J Henry & Flavius finished Plowing sod AM they plowed in Corn stubble PM J got Benj'ns Horse & hitched him & Billy to spring waggon & took Barrel Snow Apples to H Wilson & 3 bags Barley to Dr Robinson's Nancy went with him W. fine a little rain this Morning a little snow in the Air PM Henry Stover Came to stay all night

27 A helped Benj'n drains AM J Henry & Flavius Plowed in Corn stubble. A drove Flavius team PM F went home to Pick Apples Boys finished Corn ground till night W. sharp frost last night fine today The Russian Baltic fleet sailed for the East to take part in the War the Japs are pressing the Russians pretty hard as the fleet was sailing in the North Sea they saw a fleet of Hull fishing vessels & they fired into them & Killed several & wounded more & it is reported one was sunk there is great excitement in Great Britain about it and it is hard to tell what will come of it. This is the 47th anniversary of our Wedding

29 A helped Benj'n AM J & Henry Chored J took a load of Barley to Davids Henry drew home a lot of stove wood then they drew the winter apples in & put them into the old Kitchen I & Susanna went to Ceder Grove AM I & Nancy went to Elias's PM Mary was not so well yesterday but is better today W. quite fine & Cler Herman's were here to supper. the affair of Russias attack on the British fishing boats is in a fair way of being settled

3 A helped Benj'n all day J & Henry began to dig a drain in Potatoe ground south of graveyard to empty into Creek they then started about 1000 with big waggon to Dave Ramer's to vote this is the day of Dominion Elections they brought home a load of Chop from David's Henry worked at the drain PM & J went to help Thomas to run our Machine at Roach's while Herman & Levi Ramer go to vote W. very very fine Cler

10 Henry got Mares shod AM he & J brought load pine roots from 5th Con & Chored PM A helped Flavius finish threshing Alsike it turned out very well W. very very fine Colder Elisabeth & Paul left this morning for her future home in Woolwich I & Nancy were in Ceder Grove yesterday frost last night

11 Boys Cut up wood for Engine AM A worked at stable & Henry helped Flavius draw dung PM W. hard frost last night very fine & Cler today

12 Henry helped Flavius draw dung AM he went to JD's PM to help thresh it was too windy to thresh in the barn so they moved the Machine to a Buckwheat stack J & A Cut feed & Cleaned about 6 bags wheat J took it to Whitevale PM @ $1.00 per Bus A worked at Box stall they raised up driving House a little w. a very strong rather Cold wind all day W & SW

Sunday 13 A Henry & Anne went to Meeting at Wideman's J & Susanna went to Elias's to dinner I & Nancy were at home J Cobers were here to dinner W. pretty strong wind PM not Cold

14 Henry helped JD's thresh all day A got Horses Chief & Billy shod AM he & J dug some garden for Br C PM & filled the drains that they dug last week

15 Henry helped JD's thresh AM I J & A Cut a lot of straw to fill beds & also a lot of Corn & got barn ready to thresh PM Machine came right after dinner we got word that JB was very bad I & Nancy went before 100 to see him we found him very sick the Dr Came Just as we got there & said he was no better he spoke to us but is weak the Machine run very well W. very very fine & Cler, sharp Air white frost last night

18 A went to help Benj'ns thresh but there was a Casting broke on the Blower & they had to sent to Toronto for a new one so A dug at the drain at Benj'n J & Henry drew in our feed Corn & Henry brought home big load of Chop I took 5 bags Oats to Davids this morning Peter's brought Amos Weber & wife from Woolwich to dinner W. very fine East wind not strong heard today that JB was a little better yesterday

24 D Burkholder's son Joseph Came this Morning with the Sad news that my Dear friend John F Burkholder died yesterday about 4 PM Funeral tomorrow at 1/2 past 9 to 8th Con (Wideman) I & J & Henry went to tell the friends AM A went with Thomas to funeral of J Larkins wife She was burned to death on Monday PM her Clothes Caught fire at the stove she lived till night in great Misery Boys Chored PM W. Cloudy NE wind some squaals of snow toward evening

25 I & Nancy A & Henry went in spring waggon to Funeral of Johnny Burkholder service at the house by C Burkholder Sermon on St Mat 24 C 44 V by C Gayman A Mr Wallace a Baptist spoke too W. a sharp wind from the north Cloudy AM Cler PM J took Cream & Chored there were a good many at the funeral we went back to the house of mourning for dinner

April 1 A helped to Move G Gower's to the Old PL Barkey farm with team J took Cream with Grey Billy & Democrat Elias Called to say that little Alma is sick I walked down Henry took Nancy with Mare Minnie Alma was sleeping so I went to see John Clark he was taken with a stroke a few months ago his left side is paralyzed he is bedfast but Can eat & rest well we staid to dinner at Elias's awoke & seemed quite better W. fine Cler quite warm roads drying

Sunday 2 at home A & Anne went to Elias's after dinner Alma quite well they went to Flavius after supper W. quite fine & Cler sap runing Henry went to Menno Burkholder's last night & stays till tomorrow White frost last night

5 Boys split wood in bush AM Henry Sarah & Anne went to Funeral of Barbara Barkey at Wideman's PM J & A went to Benj'n Stover's sale (Christians son on the old Homestead) W. quite warm & Cler. I have bad cough

10 A & henry grubbed awhile behind Cider House till rain stopped them Henry helped Thomas's Clean Oats awhile PM J went to Scotty in Scarboro for 1 1/2 Bus Red Clover seed @ $8.00 per Bus W. cloudy began to rain about 8 Oc. rained off & on till about noon

11 Boys Chored J sowed a little more than a Bus spring Wheat south of grave yeard before dinner A & Henry sowed Mixed grain south of bush PM I went to Br S's AM his wife is no better I took Susanna to Elias's this evening left her there W. Cooler

12 A took load of Oats to Locust Hill for Thomas Henry helped Flavius Cut wood J Chored till about 10.00 then he Grubbed in big field they began to work at Seeding PM I & Nancy started after dinner & went to Davids & staid all night W. fine Cler some frost last night

13 we went to Daniels to dinner we Called at Br inlaw Enos's to see Grandmother she was not at home, so we Came home Called at Br S's his wife is no better W. frost last night Boys began at seeding at 10:00

14 Boys sowed field behind Cider house with Oats & J harrowed Knoll they sowed it with Mixed grain yesterday they worked some in big field W. rather Cloudy & Cool Herman's Called AM Jac Wideman was here to dinner he Cleaned our Clock a little snow in the air

15 J & Henry took 2 Basswood logs to SM on Trucks A Soled Boots awhile they went on the fields awhile before dinner

Sunday 16 all went to Meeting at Hebron remarks by C Burkholder sermon on St Mat 18 C by C Gayman Pre C Burkholder & wife Widow Mary Burkholder (Johny's widow) & Nancy Grove Matty Burkholder George Cober & John Brillinger & his wife Ada Hare were here to dinner Flavius & Family were here after supper W. a Cold strong NW wind squaals of snow AM sap running.

17 J & Susanna went to Markham AM I helped girls wash awhile AM didn't finish A & Henry & Benj'n & his Man Pulled down the line fence between us & them we intend to build itu up again W. strong NW wind a little snow on the ground this morning sap running well.

18 A & Henry helped Benj'n & his Man finished laying up & staking the fence they tied the stakes with wire J got Horse Grey Billy shod all round AM he helped at fence PM the sap ran well W. strong Cold NW wind there has been a hard frost every night lately

19 Boys Cut up rubbish behind Cider house & drew it into woodshed AM they worked in NW Corner field PM Made it ready to sow W. Cler, froze last night strong W wind the frost was not quite all out PM quite warm PM

20 Boys worked at seeding sowed NW Corner field with Oats & began south of Orchard sowing with Barley Henry rolled in big field till after 4 PM a slight rain stopped them J brought Susanna home from Elias's after supper she was there a few days

22 A got Horses Chief & Billy 6 shoes set AM they chored the rest of the day W. very fine & Cler snow all gone except a little behind fences

Easter Sunday 23 I & Nancy & Susanna went to JD's to dinner A & Anne went to Davids Ester is sick with La Grippe & Influenza Henry & Sarah went to Meeting at Altona W. a beautiful Cler Easter day

Easter Monday 24 A took Cream we have to take it on Monday & Friday now. they filled 4 Barrels & 9 Baskets with Apples & they sowed about a bag of Barley below orchard PM & fixed some board fence on Pickering Town line W. Cloudy AM Cler PM Br inlaw Saml Hoover's were here to dinnner

25 A went to Toronto 4 Barrels Russets @ $1.75 & $1.50 9 Baskets apples 25 cts each for 6 .15 cts for Johnston apples J & Henry Rolled after 10:00 there was some frost last night

26 Boys finished rolling they also finished seeding east of graveyard

28 J helped Benj'n at seeding with team AM A took Cream Henry dug in garden AM A & Anne went to Markham PM A got some Medicine he is not well they Called at Davids Esther is some better. J Plowed & harrowed a strip in root field PM. W. very fine Cler day

29 Chored & Planted 5 drils Potatoes in west end of root field AM Boys trimmed raspberries bushes in back garden & I went to Ceder Grove PM J went to W Clods this evening & bought 4 doz Suckers @ 30 cts per doz they have been Catching them last 3 or 4 weeds & there has been no rain to raise the Creek since the snow is gone W. quite warm a fine shower last night a little thunder drizzly awhile AM Strong NW wind

8 A worked at Murison's finished the wall & began to put the building on it its to be a Henhouse J & Henry went to Br S's to fish after Breakfast Clods Caught a few dozen suckers there on Saturday evening but there were none this morning so they went to Milnes & Caught 50 Flavius helped them W. fine AM a few showers PM windy A went for Jimmie Armstrong last evening Mare Jennie foaled on Thursday whe seemed to be sick but Jimmie says she is all right

9 A worked at Murisons Henhouse till 4 PM Herman's Lydia Came for him to take Herman's horse around this week Herman is not well J & Henry Chored & Made a enclosed yard in SW Corner of old Orchard for our Gander & one Goose that are Cross at some of the goslings Henry helped Benj'n Make fence PM Thomas took his English mand Will Price to Markham & had him examined by Dr Robinson

11 J & Henry Plowed in root field A Made a rail fence out of Ceder poles from gate that goes out of one barnyard inot the other there is a new gate at the SE Corner of the horse stables there are 8 Panels of pole fence between the two gates A left on the route to W Armstrongs about 3 PM W. fine AM Cloudy PM drizzly rain after 3 PM

12 J & Henry worked on root ground I brought seed Corn from Ceder Grove AM & they sowed it about 5 acres PM J wen to Meet A & brought him home{not struck through but rather erased} this evening but he did not come W. quite fine

13 J & Henry sowed the Mangels about {blank space} & J rolled some barley East of Orchard it is up nice but was too wet to roll any sooner W. quite fine I got a letter from Herman this evening stating that he is no better & that A will have to stay

Sunday 14 all went to Meeting at Hebron except J & Susanna remarks by C Burkholder sermon on Luke 22 & 23 C by Br C Lords Supper was Celebrated Menno Burkholder's & Matty Enos Nighswander & Mart & Daniels were here to dinner W. Cloudy began to rain about 8 AM rained till near noon rather Cloudy PM A Came home he went to Meeting but he had to go to Hermans again

15 J took 6 bags Barley to Davids & got it Chopped then they Carried the seed Potatoes out of the Cellar and Cut a lot. then they plowed in root ground PM W. warm, Clouds went around north all PM

16 J & Henry finished working root ground Henry brought a load of gravel for end of lane J Plowed AB's garden I & Nancy Called awhile at U Drudges then went to Hermans to dinner he is getting better then we went to Mary Burkholders to supper W. Cloudy this Morning Cler today Cloudy again a few heavy showers Coming home

17 J & Henry brought home some lumber from SM & brought a bag of salt from Ceder Grove they fixed the mouth of a drain & drew some dirt into a washout in field south of graveyard along Creek W. misty a while this Morning Cler awhile Cloudy towards evening drizzly rain after supper

18 Boys straightened up fences A helped till 3 PM then he went off with the horse Henry brought a load of gravel to barnyard gate from Collins Johny Reesors brought Bishop Paul Martin from Waterloo & wife (Elisabeth) & Amos Weber & wife W. Partly cloudy

19 Boys Planted Potatoes & drew 5 loads gravel into lane I brought Bushel Potatoes from M Barkeys & went to Ceder Grove AM W. fine Cler Cool NW wind

20 Henry & Sarah went to Menno Burkholders J worked on Turnip ground & drew 1 load gravel PM I took Susanna to Flavius AM brought her home PM & took her to Elias's to stay all night W. fine Cool slight frost last night
