Tuesday March 29th

Cold but warming up - Nice Sunshine. Wrote some letters for Charles. Wrote an account of Mr Moore's lecture on Inexpensive Flower Gardens and trees for Enterprise, Mrs. Beattie supplying the part on roses. Went down to the office to make the entries and while down went to the Sample room at McDonald House to get a hat. Went down there again after tea with Dorothy and called at Public Library coming back. Did Some more letters for Charles after dinner. Dorothy went to a party at Pearl Buckley's & Julius to the office to register voters for the Referendum.

Wednesday March 30th

Wrote a long letter for Julius. Went down town for meat. Did some mending. Wrote another letter for Julius after dinner. Went to dress maker's with Dorothy and then we went up to call on Mother. After tea called at Biehn's & Cobean's to invite them to a euchre party to morrow night. Duncan up in the evening.

Thursday March 31st.

Went down town in the Morning to Make purchases for Euchre party at night. A letter from Adelaide arrived saying that Frank was seriously ill (hemorage {hemorrhage}on Easter Sunday or Tuesday before) but the doctors thought not in immediate danger but he was to be taken to the hospital & she would wire if he were worse. In the afternoon a wire came asking Charlie to come if possible so Julius and Charles decided to go. So I called off my party. Phoned everybody but Biehns and called there. Then went to the office to help Julius get ready. Mr. Caldwell and I worked until 11 p.m. Dorothy at Ida Halladay's bridge party when telegram arrived. She went to Bijou in the evening with Mar. McDonald as nobody was at home.

Friday April 1st.

Worked at office all Morning, Packed Julius' Suit-case. He and Charlie drove to Hanover, leaving here at

2.30 p.m. and caught 6 p.m. train. Went to Leitch's to get Huylers' peppermints for Jack and called on Mrs. Leitch. Then went up to see Mother and wish Jack "Many happy returns of the Day." Mrs. Ferguson called in the evening and stayed until 10 p.m. Dorothy at home all evening.

Saturday April 2nd.

Beautiful spring day. Did Dorothy's last minute mending. Went down town in the morning to get her American Money etc. Went down with Dorothy after dinner to do her last minute shopping. Mar McDonald, Vi Mair and Pearl Buckley were here playing bridge. Mrs. Maxwell called to see me. After tea went to Public Library & then to office to see if I could help Mr. Caldwell (registering orders for Referendum) Then went to the Station and bought Dorothy's the ticket "Toronto Via Windsor."

Sunday April 3rd

Warm day. Dorothy and I went to church in the Morning. Just about an hour before s.s. Dorothy discovered she had cooties in her hair (Souvenir of settlement I expect) so I combed it and had to rush for s.s. Mother came up after Church. After s.s. I went to Leitch's for remedies. Mrs. Beattie came over to see Mother. Then Mr. and Mrs. M.A. called and Mrs. Stewart came to the door. Mother stayed for tea. Then I washed Dorothy's hair and went over it again. Went to Lowrey's to see if there was any Message from Prince Albert. None. Went up home with Mother and called to see Mr. Kyle who is very ill (somewhat better.) Cool enough for my fur coat at night. Helped Dorothy pack & got to bed at Midnight.

Monday April 4th.

Very warm to-day. Mrs. Ryan and I took the furniture out of the drawing room. Paper hangers gave the ceiling

one coat of paint. Went down town for Meat. Wrote to Gwen Ganley enclosing Dorothy's cheque. (Forgot to say I got up at 5.30 a.m. and went to station with Dorothy. Leaving for Detroit for visit with Marion Buell and then going straight from there to Toronto.) And to Miss McNaughton for Mrs. McGregor. went down town for Meat. Went down in the afternoon for Mail and went around to Mrs. Ferguson's to deliver a letter from Bert Halliday enclosed in one to me. Saw Mrs. Beattie, who came over with me and we discussed flowers & flower seeds. After tea wrote to Mr. Mulligan and to Julius.

Tuesday April 5th.

Mrs. Beattie came over in the Morning & we spent an hour or more arranging flowers for my perennial borders. After dinner I went over there to complete list of plants & seeds. Mrs. Mair called. Went down town for Mail. Took part of

leaves of tulips & Mrs. Ryan finished the Job. Went over to see Mrs. Hooper but someone there so did not go in. Wrote to Julius & Dorothy & went to station to post my letters. Alice got telegram from Charlie saying "Frank improving. Doctors think he may come round." Very hot. Too hot for coat.

Wednesday April 6th.

Very hot day. Mr. Vickers finished drawing room ceiling. Went down town after dinner for Mail. Went up to see Mother and called to see Mr. Kyle. Went to Mrs. Beattie's to deliver a plant Mother gave me for her but found her out. Discussed fence with Mr. Lipsett. Gathered some cress & sorrel for Mrs. Tuer & took it down to her. After tea went to see Mrs. Hooper. Wrote to Julius & Clare and went to the station to post my letters. Typed an extract for letter to Julius.

Thursday April 7th.

Very hot day. Mr. Vickers finished drawing room all but one tiny strip of border. Went down town in the Morning for Meat. Was out in garden telling Timmy Ryan what to do. Called on Mrs. Conrad Krug (also was ill) (In Morning went down to Mrs. Beatties' to see about some plants) and went to see Mrs. David Irvine, who was worse and was in bed. After coming home went down to get some pins to put up pictures. Got 2 letters and 2 postcards from Julius - 1st letter en route, other letter and cards from Regina but no word from Dorothy. Wrote to Julius and took letter to the station. Sent a wire to Marion Buell.

Friday April 8th.

Housecleaning all day. Put up all the pictures, put up drape above arch etc. Went down town for the Mail. Letter from Dorothy. Mrs. M.A. Halliday called and Duncan came up with as usual. Wrote to Julius and Duncan posted my letter. Made out the Quarterly Report

for the Church School and fixed cards for Primary Class. Got letter from Dorothy. Written Tuesday, Post-Marked "Detroit" on Thursday. Got here Friday. At Noon.

Saturday April 9th.

Washed the palm, all the dishes on plate-rail and on Buffet, also the Electric lights & shades in dining room & drawing room. Went down for the Mail after dinner and after tea went to Library, helped Mrs. Ferguson until 9 p.m.. Went to Lustig's for Meat & to bridge for a walk. Had a wire from Dorothy this Morning.

Sunday April 10th.

Cold day - Wore my fur coat. Went to church twice & to S.S. (Church in the Morning Union Service in the Evangelical Church. At night Union service in our church as Mr. Kellerman is in quarantine with Ellen who has Scarlet fever. Mrs. Kellerman at Green's with new baby daughter.) Went to see Mrs. Hooper in the afternoon and after church at

night Mrs. Ferguson and I went up to see Mother and on the way home I called and had my throat burnt at Dr. Rannie's. Nell telephoned that she had a wire from Julius saying Frank was better and now on the way to recovery.

Monday Apr. 11th.

Still cool but a little warmer. Cleaned books in library, Electric lights etc. In fact busy house cleaning until after 4 o'clock. When I went down for the Mail a crown came off so I went up to Dr. Caulfield's to get it on. Wrote to Julius. Went to Public Library Board Meeting and afterwards walked to bridge & back with Mrs. Ferguson.

Tuesday April 12th.

Fine day. Typed a four (long) page letter for Mrs. Ferguson for W. M. S. Society. Took it over to her and called to see Mrs. Beattie about seeds etc. Wrote

to Dorothy and Margaret Hewitt. Went down town for the Mail. Went up to see Mother and called to see Mr. Kyle. Did some shopping on the way home and after tea went to Post office to see if there was any letter from Charles on the {North?} Mail. Called to take some roses to Mrs. Hooper and then called to see Mr. & Mrs. M.A. Halliday as they got word to-day that Mr. James Halliday was dead (M.A. out) Wrote to Charles and went to the station to post the letter.

Wednesday April 13th.

Beautiful day. Washed my hair. Wrote to Blanche Gillies and Aunt Anaise. Went down town for the Mail and brought it home. Called at the Manse and then went to see Mrs. Leslie. Went down to store for curtains for hall door. After tea wrote to Charles, Nell and Jean Hyde. Went down to post office to post my letters.

Met Mrs. Maxwell and Mrs. Rogers. Mrs. Maxwell had been coming to see me because she had heard that Frank had died. (Mixed with Mr. James Halliday. House cleaning finished.

Thursday April 14th.

Nice in the Morning. I gathered some stones off the road and prepared box as a Miniature hot beds for my Snap dragons and ageratine seeds and then planted them. Wrote to Bert Halliday. Went to the office for the Mail and then to Johnston's for lesson in elocution. Called on Mrs. Leitch. After tea wrote to Charles and Nell and attended the Referendum Meeting which was addressed by Mr. Pilkie of Owen Sound. Mr. M.A. Chairman & Elmwood Minister and Mr. McCausland and Mr. McLachlan on the platform. Mr. Tuer not present at meeting. Rained quite heavily from about 5 to 7 p.m.

Friday April 15th.

Cool to-day. Went down at noon for Mail. Had a wire from Julius from

Regina Saying Frank is steadily improving and they will be in Toronto Sunday and home Monday in time to vote on the Referendum. Rang Nell up and discovered that Dorothy had not turned up in Toronto. Nell telephoned in evening to say that Doug. Nickle had a letter from her saying she would be there this week. Went up to see Mother. Called to enquire for Mr. Kyle. Went in to see Mrs. Leitch and then went to enquire for Mrs. Irvine. As she wanted to see me I went in. She is very very ill. Duncan was up in the evening. I wrote to Mrs. Luton, Mrs. Blair and Miss Small.

Saturday April 16th.

Cold and stormy. Quite a lot of Snow fell. Was out at 8 a.m. to show Mr. Phillips what to do in the garden but he could only work a short time as the weather got bad. Went to the office after dinner and did all the entries Mr. Caldwell has made since

Julius went away. Called at Public Library for some books. Vi Mair and Mr. Caldwell called after tea to get books. Wrote to Dorothy, Mrs. Goodeve and Mrs. Luttrell.

Saturday April 17th.

Cold. Sidewalks icy. Tulips are sticking up through the snow and looking very forlorn. Went to church twice and to S.S. Mr. Tuer preached on prohibition at night and it was 9 p.m. when we got out of church. Called on Mrs. Hooper after s.s. and after Church at night. Wrote to Gertie Cass in Korea and Irene Frazier.

Monday April 18th.

Another birthday. Went down town for Meat. At noon Alice Jean brought me a towel she had made me for my birthday. Voted on the Referendum in the Morning. Mrs. Hooper dressed and walked down to Wark's and voted. Studied my recitation. Went to afternoon train to meet Julius and Charlie. After Julius

had voted went down town with him. After tea Julius and I went up to see Mother. Mr. Tuer's Sermon very much discussed. General Judgment being that he did not state where he stood and did harm rather than good. He gave Mr. Davey some nasty publicity about {taulae?} which was not only undeserved but very injudicious. Alice & Charlie gave me a box of chocolates and Julius gave me $25 to buy my own birthday gift.

Tuesday April 19th.

Typed out "How Liege Held the Road" for Myrle Safana. Went down town for Meat. Wrote to Nell Frank and Mr. Farney. At 2.30 p.m. Dr. Rannie, Mrs. Ferguson and I went to the McDonald House to select books for the Public Library. Afterwards I went for a walk with Mrs. Ferguson & Mrs. M A. Halliday. After tea Julius and I went up to see Mr. Kyle and on the way home Joined Charlie and family in the orchard Where they had a big bonfire.

Wednesday April 20th.

Wrote some letters for Charles. Went to the Bank with the S.S. Collection. Rained after dinner. Wrote to Clare, Dorothy, Winnie Ferguson and Miss McEachran. Rained cleared up. Went down town to Charlie's store to look for curtains. (Charlie not in) I met Mrs. Ferguson and we went out to McManus Corner for a walk. When we got back to Davey's corner Mrs. Ferguson went home but I went on to the top of the hill and made it 2½ miles. First long walk for some time so felt tired to-night. Julius went to the McDonald House to call on the High School Inspector.

Thursday April 21st.

Showery. Got box ready and planted some More Snapdragon seed. Mr. McDonald and his men to take off the double windows, put up wire on tennis court, fix fence, gate, doors, etc. Busy seeing that Screens are right etc. Went down town for Meat. Studied Recitations.

Myrle phoned not to come until to-morrow. Spent the afteroon preparing Exam. papers (conundrums) for my School party on Tuesday night. (Schoolteachers and a few others I want to entertain). Wrote to Dorothy to thank her for a couple of Books. "Tales of Three Hemispheres" and "The Seeds of Enchantment which she sent me for my birthday. Charles went to Masonic Meeting. Thunder storm in the evening.

Friday April 22nd.

Raining nearly all day. Reviewed my recitations. Went to Mrs. Beattie's to see what roses to order for our hedge. After dinner (at 2 p.m.) went to Johnston's for my Elocution lesson. Then went down town and afterwards came home and went back again. Julius went to Charlie's store with me to look for curtains. After tea began work on my new recitation. Duncan here. Worked at my tray cloth for an hour in the Morning.

Saturday Apr. 23rd.

still showery. Mended stockings, learned recitation (part) Measured curtains. Went down to the office to get some work. Wrote 1 letter and 11 circular letters (2 at once), for Juius. Went to Recital at Alma's where I presented her prizes. Then went for a walk with Miss Millar Whom I met on the Street at Town Hall. After tea Julius went down to Irvine's, (Mrs. Irvine died this Morning) and I went to the Public Library where I helped Mrs. Ferguson until she closed up and then we went down town to do some shopping.

Sunday Apr. 24th. Raining in morning. Beautiful warm day. Went to church, Evangelical in the Morning and ours at night. Went to S.S. Mother came up after Church and stayed until S.S. time. Called on Mrs. Hooper (Charles and I) after S.S. At church at night Mr. Tuer took exception to Mr McDonald's note in The Enterprise connecting him with the "4 Ministers"

who did not give weight of influence to help Referendum. Also announced that he would go as soon as he got a call. Julius and Charlie went to the Manse to see him after church and Alice and I came on home where the men joined us later.

Monday April 26th.

Beautiful day. Wrote a letter for Julius & studied some history. Wrote to Lillian Esplen, Dorothy, Frank & Margaret Hewitt. Charles Julius went to Mrs. Irvine's funeral and acted as a pall-bearer. Went down to post letters and to pay some bills. Wrote to Clare, took it down to post & walked to Davison's for Julius ' laundry. Took it back to office and then went to the top of North hill for a walk. After tea Mr. J.E Campbell spent the evening until late train. Sat outside on Veranda, very warm. Went to late train with Mrs. Tuer to meet Mrs. Smith and carried her suit-case to

the Manse & went in for a few minutes.

Tuesday April 26th.

Very hot day. Discussed with Mr. Lipsett rose hedge etc. Studied recitation Typed Income Tax Returns (3 separately) for Julius. After dinner went down town and had a walk with Miss Evans. Mrs. Hooper called me (was out at the back) and I went over to see her. In the afternoon called at Mrs. Biehn's to invite her to postponed euchre party. Also at Mrs Beattie's (telephoned the others) After tea Mr. McNeel called and took me for a drive in his car. Then Julius and I went up to see Mr. Kyle and called at Charlie's on way home. Had riddles with children.

Wednesday April 27th.

Raining in the afternoon. Wrote a couple of letters for Julius. Went down town in the morning to do some shopping for euchre party at night. Called at Mrs. Beattie's. Plants arrived from Horticultural Society. After dinner dusted Dorothy's room and Spare

room, helped get out dishes bring down tables, arranged flowers etc. Then went down town for ham etc. At party (postponed on account of Frank's illness) Mr. & Mrs. Caldwell, Mr. & Mrs. Reid, Mrs. Leitch (Mr Leitch away). Dr. & Mrs. Mair, Mrs. Biehn, Mrs. Safana, Charlie, Alice, Grace Steven, Mr. & Mrs. Cobean, Mr. & Mrs. Beattie. (Dr. Biehn & Mr. Leitch away who were to be at other party and Alice & Grace took their places.) Had a nice time.

Thursday April 28th.

Beautiful day. Mrs. Beattie was here in the Morning and we planned out flowers etc. Then I went down there to return her cards. Planted My pink and blue border. Went to Johnston's at 3 o'clock for my elocution letter{lesson?}. Called at Crow's, Wilson's, Mc Donald's. Sanderson's, Davey's and at Dobie to invite Miss Evans and at Milne's to invite Miss Millar to a party to-morrow night.

Mr. Sears was here for tea. I superintended Mr. Phillips Who planted My yellow and purple border. Wrote to Clare and Dorothy.

Friday April 29th.

Rained all day and in evening. Busy in the Morning selecting the questions for examination papers for party. Went down town to do some shopping. After dinner typed the exam. papers. Helped make the sandwiches (had to go down town for more ham) and fix up boxes (lunch) and paper them up for my School party. Fixed flowers and got tea and ready for guests. Present: Mr. & Mrs. Wilson (H.S. Principal) Miss Millar & Miss Evans (of H.S. Staff) (Miss McCullough away for week end). Mrs. Leitch (Mr L away) and Mrs. Crow. Charlie and Alice, Mr. & Mrs. Sanderson, Mr. & Mrs. Davey, Mr. & Mrs. McDonald, Mr. & Mrs. McNeel, and Mrs. Beattie came to help me. Had Chocolate bars (9 kinds 2 of each) for selecting partners. Exam was

a Success and everybody had a good time. Alice and Mrs. Wilson won 1st prize (Box of Lemon and raspberry drops and a note book) and Mr. McNeel and Mr. Sanderson the booby (scribbling books.)

Saturday April 30th.

Much cooler to-day. Still cloudy. Darned my Stockings. Went down town for Meat. Duncan was up. "Lily" Bunn leaves to-day as she is not a success in the office. Went to the office in the afternoon. After tea called at the Manse to see Mrs. Smith who goes back to Toronto on Monday Morning & then went down to Public Library to change some books and stayed to help Mrs. Ferguson until closing time.

Sunday May 1st.

Quite Cold. Was wishing I had not put my fur coat away. Went to Church twice and to S.S. Called to see Mrs. Hooper after S.S. and found

her up. After church Charlie and Alice were up for awhile.

Monday May 2nd.

Went to the office. Did up "Life" & "N Y Times" at noon. Still cold. Spent the office afternoon in the office but called at the Manse on the way down. In the evening wrote to Frank, Nell, Miss Ward and Douglas Nickle (to send him recipe for Bakewell pudding.)

Tuesday May 3rd.

Went to the office and had a satisfactory day's work. After tea went to the Red Cros Meeting in the Council Chamber to hear Miss Clayton's address on Health Campaign of Red Cross. Went from there to Oddfellows' banquet, 196 at tables. Frenchman played "Marseillaise" on cornet. Good programme. Good eats. Charlie & Julius both spoke. Got home at Midnight.

Wednesday May 4th.

Spent the day at the office. Went to Miss Milne's in the Morning to select a style for my blue tricollete dress. After tea shampooed my hair. Cool so had fire in the library. Planted some holly hocks at noon

Thursday May 5th.

Spent Morning at the office. Went to Johnston's for my elocution lesson at 3 o'clock. Went on downtown and got some pansies. Went to Beattie's but no one at home. After tea spent some time in the garden directing Mr. Phillips. Then went to Beattie's with him for some phlox, Delphiniums, and sweet William. Afterwards wrote to Clare, Dorothy and Frank.

Friday May 6th.

Spent the day at the office. After tea went to Miss Meuses' Recital in the Methodist church basement. Then went from there to the Band Concert where Julius was chairman.

Saturday May 7th.

Fine day but still cool. Was at the office all day. (Went down in the Morning for Meat and took it home.) After tea went up to see Mr. Kyle - found him sitting up in the dining room, then called at Mother's. Mother just going to bed & only Isabel and Frances at home. At noon went to Mrs. Beattie's to see her about some seeds, no one there so went to barn where I found her.

Sunday May 8th.

Nice day but cool. Went to church twice and to S.S. Went to see Mrs. Hooper after S.S.; found her suffering a good deal of pain. Adjutant Martin arrived about 5.30. He went to church with us. Then we went over to the Town Hall where Mr. Martin gave an address on "The Work of the Salvation Army" He came to the house afterwards and I gave him a supper of sandwiches & tea and he left just after Midnight to drive to London.

Monday May 9th.

Went down town for Meat and bought it home, then went to the office. Called at Beattie's at noon but no one home. Bells came home from California on the noon train. Spent the afternoon at the office and after tea Charles and I called at the Bells. Watered my seed boxes at noon.

Tuesday May 10th.

Charles had to go to Durham to Court. Went on early train to Hanover and drove from there to return on late train. Spent the day at the office. Mr. Caldwell and I cleared out the filing cabinets. After tea went up to see Mother but she was out. Met Charlie and Allie coming down town so came back with them and went to the Public Library with Alice Jean to get books about battles of Somme & Vimy for History at school to-morrow. Nice day. Wrote to Dorothy. Received roses she sent me for Mother's Day (Sunday). Wrote to Frank.

Wednesday May 11th.

Charles had to go back to Hanover on the early train to take a case in the Court there. I went down for Meat and brought it home and went back for The Globe. Nothing to do at the office. Went to Charlie's store with a book for Margaret and Alice to get their note on Vimy & Somme out of.

Thursday May 12th.

Went to the office in the Morning. After dinner - (had lunch at a quarter to 12 and left at 12) Mr. & Mrs. Beattie, Julius and I went to Walkerton. Julius had a Meeting of "Mothers' Pensions Board" and Mr. Beattie and I went to Norrish's and got some plants - had ice cream at Erman's and went for a walk. Came home via Hanover and had to go around a block to miss road work. In Hanover Julius went to see Mrs. Gross in business. While Mrs. Beattie and I tried to procure some plants from the Horticultural

Society but no one in charge. Got home about 6 o'clock. Wrote to Clare. Mrs. Beattie, Julius and I went to the Methodist Church to hear Miss Frances Nickawa, the Cree Indian elocutionist who is said to be a Second Pauline Johnson. She was very good indeed in her Indian numbers and, although very homely when dressed in her white gown, looked quite presentable in her Indian costume. Not yet a Pauline Johnson. Cool East wind - one Short shower.

Friday May 13th

Few showers to-day. Was at the office. At 2 p.m. went to Johnston's for my last lesson in elocution as Myrle leaves next week. Went from there to the office and worked the rest of the afternoon. (Went to Miss Milne's in the Morning to fit My tricolette dress. After tea Mr. Lipsett, Reginald, Julius and I planted one rose hedge between Lipsett's and our garden. Mrs. Beattie sent up some

phlox and a delphinium root which I planted and then went down there with her pot. Found Mrs. Ferguson there. Recited "The Pilot of the Plains", "Marguerite de Roberval" "Rizpah" "Madeleine de Verchères "Fra Giacomo" "At Half Mast" and "Seventy-Nine". Went to the Station with Mrs. Beattie to take an express parcel up and then came home to find Duncan here as usual on Friday night.

Saturday May 14th.

Cool. Went for Meat in the morning which I send up with Jamie Thomson. Went to the office. Did a good day's work. At noon planted some flower seeds. After tea Mrs. Beattie came over and we planted about half our seeds in the back garden. Then went up to Mother's and took up Margaret's book as her birthday to-morrow. Mother not there so we called at Faulkness's to see Mother. Left Mrs. Beattie at Lustig's Where I got Milk and bacon.

Went to Station to meet Margaret Hewitt. Talked some time.

Sunday May 15th.

Quite cold day. Went to church, Julius, Margaret and I in the Morning. Went to S.S. After s.s. went to see Mrs. Hooper. Found her somewhat better. Julius and Margeret went to the "Anglican" church at night and, as I was tired, I stayed at home. Mother came up after church and Charlie called for her in the car.

Monday May 16th. Monday May 16th.

Did My Mending. After dinner Margaret and I went for a walk up to the cemetery via Baptist Church and back by 2nd Concession Street. Mrs. Beattie and I planted the rest of our flower seeds. Julius went to Mission Band entertainment (pictures of "Ben Hur". Both Margaret and I have bad colds. Wrote to Dorothy.

Tuesday May 17th.

As Margaret was feeling weak and wretched with her cold she spent the day in bed. Took up her meals and was up several times. Went to the office at 10 a.m. and worked until dinner time. Felt wretched after dinner so had a tiny snooze. As Margaret was sleeping went down to see Mrs. Tuer. Watered my borders planted some columbine and put aster seeds in round bed in front of library window. Wrote to Dorothy. Went down to post letter and to Public Library to help Josie Stanley who is taking Mrs. Ferguson's place while she is in Toronto.

Wednesday May 18th.

Little warmer to-day. Margaret stayed in bed until dinner time. I worked at the office all Morning and finished My letters and two probates at the house after dinner. Margaret was reading and writing letters so I wrote to Frank, Nell, Dorothy, Homer

Juker. (Wanted to bring an entertainment there) Miss McNaughton (for Mrs. McGregor and to Doug. Nickle to congratulate him upon passing his Exam (to be called to the bar to-morrow.) Went to post office to post my letters and called at Johnston's to say good bye to Myrle and Alwilda who leave in the Morning for Flint to visit Allie and then, being joined by Jean at Sarnia, got on to Edmonton.

Thursday May 19th.

Margaret stayed in bed all day. Dr. Rannie was up in the Morning & decided headache was from cold. Went to office & did some work. Finished it at home. Went to see Copey and Barbara Halliday and Mrs. Leslie. After tea went down town to get some Medicine for Margaret. Found Mrs. Beattie at {lacing?} barn & called on her there. Letter from Adelaide. Frank seems weaker. Think I must go out to P.A. {Prince Albert} when Dorothy comes home.

Friday May 20th.

Very warm. Went to office for awhile in the Morning. Margaret got up at 11 o'clock. Typed my letters at home after dinner. Tied up clematis. Margaret and I went for a walk. Went to Mrs. Beattie's before tea. Wrote to Clare & Dorothy. After tea watered my borders. Duncan was up and Mr. Parsons demonstrating the Hoover sweeper which Julius purchased.

Saturday May 21st.

Went down for Meat and did the entries, some letters and some filing at the office. In the afternoon Margaret and I went for a walk and after tea I planted some flower seeds and played tennis in Duncan's place until he came. (Miss Leslie, Julius & Mr. Caldwell the other three) Mrs. M.A. & Mr. M.A. called to see Mrs. Hewitt amd Mrs. Caldwell called also. Went to Public Library for awhile to help Josie Stanley. Charlie had a wire from Adelaide Saying Frank worse.

Sunday May 22nd.

Showery and thundery all day. Julius and I went to Church in the Morning and to S.S. A Meeting of teachers after S.S. Just at church time severe thunder storm was on. We did not go to Church. Charlie came up after Church and about 9.30 a telephone message from Dick said they had got a telegram saying Frank had gone.

Monday May 23rd.

Went up to see Mother in the Morning. Resigned to have Frank go that he may not suffer longer. Funeral is to be in Chesley. Wrote quite a number of letters for Charlie after dinner. (Planted my Morning glories and butterfly flowers before dinner.) Margaret and I walked down to Mr. William Elliot's Mill via Mill Street and came home via Long Street. Then I went downtown to write another letter and to get some

bread. After tea worked in the garden for an hour, then helped Mrs. Ryan cut up pineapples for preserving. Wrote to Dorothy and took my letter to the station walking back with Julius who had gone over to send a wire to Jack Reed.

Tuesday May 24th.

Rained Most of the night. Cooler but cloudy. Went to P.O. for the Mail before breakfast as this is a holiday. Did considerable work for Charles. Planted some seeds in the garden. Went for a walk to Mr. W. Elliot's Mill with Margaret. Washed my hair after tea. Mrs. Beattie was over for a few minutes. Raining in the evening.

Wednesday May 25th.

Cloudy and cool. Julius went to Owen Sound. (Motor-car) to attend a case. Typed account of Frank's life for Enterprise before breakfast. Typed 2 copies of Saskatchewan Probate (Had to be all typed. Took up one bed of tulips and went down town for the Mail.

After dinner took up the tulips in the other bed and Margaret and I went to call on Mrs. M.A. Halliday and then took a walk over Overhead Bridge. Did some gardening after tea and Mr. Phillips put in the geraniums and ageratums. Charles got home in time for tea.

Thursday May 26th.

Beautiful day. Went down for Meat in the Morning. Went down for the Mail after dinner (half holiday so no one got it) and spent the rest of the time with Margaret. Julius and I went to the station with her. After tea did some watering and went up to see Mother. Charlie, Alice, Grace Steven and I had a drive around the 5 Mile block & Charlie brought me home. (Before I went up the hill wrote to Mrs. McCaul & Dorothy and Mrs. Leitch and Mrs. Crow called to see me.
