Jan 1st. All kinds of weat-{part of the page is ripped, but the author probably wrote: "weather"} today. East winds with {some more of the page is ripped} snow flurries in the morning. than mild with rain. followed by strong west winds and freezing hard at night. Had John and family for dinner and Grandma Boniface and Harry for dinner & supper.

Jan 2nd. Cold today. Cleaned up after new years Smith doing some pruning only done one days work since christmas.

Jan 3rd cold and cloudy looks like snow got a surprise got 2 eggs first since about nov 1st.

Jan 4 Clear & cold today. Smith working at hot bed sash.

Jan 5 cloudy and cool in the morning turned to rain in the afternoon came down good and heavy nearly all night.

Jan 6. Sunday blowing a gale from from the west and turning colder

Jan 7th very cold only eight from zero this morning with heavy west wind blowing clouds of dust every where. there is no snow to blow.

Jan 8th very cold 4 from zero this am at 8 oclock wind still blowing will be hard on berries weather so cold and changeable. and no snow.

Jan 9th Milder again just about freezing point. cloudy and snowing some tonight.

Jan 10th. mild rained in the night and this morning. Smith still fixing hotbed sashes taking out glass out of 40 and repainting and glazing, a big job.

Jan 11th. Turning colder again with heavy winds and some snow flurries.

Jan 12th very cold with some snow flurries.

Jan 13. Sunday Very cold. coldest this winter so far

Just 2 from zero at 11 am and 6 below at 9 p.m.

Jan 14, cold & cloudy 6 below zero at 830 a.m. not feeling very good cant stand the cold any more.

Jan 15th still cold and about zero.

Jan 16th a little milder snowed all night about 5 or 6 inches but as dry as powder.

Jan 17th. raining nearly all day and night snow going fast.

Jan 18th. mild & cloudy snow all gone rained all day and tonight coming down in torrents every thing flooded.

Jan 19th. mild & cloudy big drain on the bum again. blocked again sand boxs at Manns line standing full of water, guess the flood went right over top of them

Jan 20th. Sunday. My Birthday. started celebrating early. and lasted all day. Birthday cake. chocolates etc. ended up by hearing KFI Los Angeles on the radio reception good. heard the atwater kent concert from K.OA Denver. every thing good. Fort Worth Texas

coming strong had Los Angelas until we went to bed.

Jan 21st Extra fine winter day. bright and not too cold, but not thawing any. Smith pruning some.

Jan 22nd strong East wind. tried to find out what was wrong with big drain. no success. still blocked water from Manns drain running over top of our field.

Jan 22nd. Doris home with a cold. Alan also has one. Went Visiting Geo Hammonds last Saturday. and they brought it home with them starting snowing again tonight.

Jan 23rd. Cooler this morning a few inches of snow. drifted, some places none - making out order for Seeds from Stokes

time Had Mr Huffman over to try it out. seems the best one yet. Had Denver. Winnipeg & Los. Angelas on it.

Jan 24th. Cool & cloudy looks like a storm. Raido reception not so good. tonight of course we had visitors. Hicks.

Jan 25. snowed some in the night and raining today

Jan 26th. cold & clear roads pretty slippery. Doris held her 7th Birthday party. new Spartan Radio went on the punk. Man promised to come & fix it but never showed up.

Jan 27th. Sunday. Fair & cold. All alone all day.

Jan 28th All the kids have colds. both home from school Today weather cold 10 above zero this am. expect a car of manure in today.

Jan 29th. manure in today started unloading out in the field.

Jan 30th Finished manure and it also finished me have a cold and Doris has Bronchitis

Feby 12th. Have been sick in bed since Jan 30th. and feeling punk yet. with cough and

cold in head & Bronchitis another car of manure arrived on the 9th Feby. John, Edgar & Donald unloaded it as it was a Saturday as Smith has been sick the same time as me and is still sick. Sparton Radio seems pretty good so I've kept it. cost $322.50 Paid $240.00 cash and our old atwater kent. The weather has been fine winter weather. not to cold but not thawing any and about 6 inches snow on the ground an Ideal winter so far.

Feby 16th. Sat. weather still fine & moderately cold. with some snow on the ground. still feeling punk Smith still sick John getting manure ready for making first hot beds.

Feby 18th. John & Smith put up first hot beds. a little to early but manure came early.

Feby 19th. turned cold again 3 from zero cold north east wind and some snow.

Feby 20th. Very cold this morning coldest this winter 14 below zero but clear and no wind.

Feby 21st. Still cold only a few above zero John laid up with a sore back.

Feby 22nd. went down town first time for a month. weather still cold but fine & clear.

Feby 23rd Sowed 16 sashes peppers. 8 sashes Hot peppers. 8 sashes Sweet 1 oz Harris Giant 8 ozs World Beater. weather fine

Feby 24 Sunday cloudy & milder thawed a little

Feby 25th Cloudy and cool. sowed Cabbage seed 4 ozs Copenhagen 1 oz Viking Copenhagen is 8 sashes.

Feby 26th went down town today. weather cloudy & mild.

Feby 27th & 28th. Have another cold today. weather fine & mild.

Mar. 1st Fine & mild thawing fast, the snow is fast going March came in like a lamb alright.

Mar 3rd Sunday. Aunt Hattie Bell died this afternoon about 5 oclock. she has been helpless for a long time

still have a cold. do not know whether we can go or not.

Mar 4th. Raining today mother in bed. Dr Peat thinks it is her teeth & tonsils

Mar 5th Fine & mild I still have a cold.

Mar 6th. Had Will & Clara & Hicks for the evening weather turning colder & blowing a gale.

Mar 7 Very cold. some snow. and blowing a gale. snow & sand flying every where. Kitchener wins 6 H.a intermediate from Willowdale of Toronto score 6 to 3 on the round. played last night & Monday

Mar 8th. Very cold this morning down to about zero. went out for a walk.

Mar 9th. Very cold again will be a cold night. Tor. {Toronto} University Wins 6 Ha Senior. Championship from Kingston 9 to 5 on the Round. Iroquois Falls wins from Kitchener in 4 to 3 on the round in the play downs. and Port Arthur wins from Manitoba University 2 to 1 in two games. manitoba was last years champions

Mar 11th. Milder like Spring snow all gone

Mar 12th. Very mild and warm car manure

arrived today Had to hire a W McGrath with truck to unload it. John still bad with sciatic and me with a cold.

Mar 13th My cold worse again walked down to Johns yesterday it was like summer and got a fresh cold.

Mar 14th. Mild & foggy some rain in bed all day

Mar 15th. Mild & partly cloudy. Toronto Varsity wins Round in Extra Play offs with Iroquois Falls score 10 to 6 in the two games

Mar 16th. Had a Thundershower last evening and this morning it is snowing but fine in the afternoon Toronto Marlboros win Junior 6.H.a. Finals Beat Kitchener score 4 to 3 in the round. Had Mrs & Miss May for the week end.

March 17th Sunday fine & moderately cool.

Mar 18th. Fine and a little milder

Mar 19th. Fine & mild Varsity wins Round 4 to 3 from Ottawa Shamrocks in Senior play offs Mar John & Smith have been trying their hand at grafting plum trees

Mar 20th A little cooler a few snow flurries in the morning but soon melted. John & Smith transplanting Cabbages. only planting 6000 this year. have been cheap for years now. no money in them. Marlboros of Toronto Beat Soo Greyhounds in Junior play off 7 to 2 tonight.

Mar 21 1st day of Spring mild. partly cloudy with very strong South West winds.

Mar 22nd cloudy and a little cooler Montreal Beat Toronto Varsity tonight and last Wed. 8 to 3 on the round (Senior Final)

Mar 23rd cloudy and cooler. started to transplant a few Tomatoes. got very warm in the afternoon up to 72 in the Sun.

Mar 24th Sunday. Fine & a little cooler Had Stan Blair & H. Simmons over.

Mar 25th Regina Port Arthur beat British Columbia in the Western Finals 6 to 0, and play Montreal in the finals at Winnipeg Mar Got McGrath unloading another car of manure.

Mar 26 Went to Hamilton saw a Talkie Movie. (In Old Arizona)

Toronto Pro. Hockey out of the running in the Semi Finals Beat 2 straight games 1 to 0 & 2 to 1.

Mar 27th. A Cool East wind but fine John & Smith transplanting

Mar 28th. Cooler today frozen this morning

Mar 29th Good Friday clear & bright over 80 this afternoon. that is out of the wind and right in the sun. on the End of the barn. but a very cool North East wind

Mar 30th. Coudy & mild Toronto Marlboros win 6.H.a Canadian Junior Championship they Beat Winnipeg Juniors

in the finals in two straight games both scores 4 to 2.

Mar 31st Easter Sunday cold & cloudy strong East wind. thermometer about freezing point this morning at 9 oclock.

April 1st. Port Arthur wins Senior Hockey Honors from Montreal in the finals played three games 1st game 1 to 1 tie 30 minutes overtime. 2nd game 7 to 2 3rd game 3 to 0. Port Arthur has won three times out of the last 5 years. Boston also Beat New York 2 straight & wins Pro Hockey Stanley Cup.

Had a big rain in the night. Some thunder & lightning and some showers this morning with Strong winds, from the South west. some times like a hurricane

April 2nd ground frozen this morning but clear. lots of damage done by wind yesterday mostly around St Catherines & Niagara Falls. while roads blocked with snow in North Bay and district as far South as Allandale.

April 3rd. Fair & mild. done a little work for a couple of hours transplanting peppers.

April 4th. mild with April showers. Transplanting Tomatoes

April 5th. Every thing flooded tonight big thunder shower this morning about 4 am. another like a cloudburst just before six tonight and still another about 8 oclock.

April 6th. cleared up this morning. every where flooded drains washed out etc. turned warm this afternoon as hot as summer 86 in the Sun.

April 7th Sunday AM as warm as summer drove down the highway after Sunday School. Called at {Cultreises?} when the girls were at Sunday School.

April 8th. some showers fixed sprayer and topped Raspberries.

April 9th. cold & cloudy. gathering brush.

April 9th weather and job same as yesterday

April 10 cold working at brush & Berry bushes weather cool

April 11th started fixing big drain again no success yet

put in 3500 x 11 qts baskets cold and some more showers

April 12th. got big drain in good shape again found sticks wire & a milk bottle in it.

April 13th. finished drawing wood & cleaning up brush. weather still cold & cloudy.

April 14 Sunday partly cloudy & cool. went for a drive up the other side of Waterdown

April 15th. Cold & cloudy with rain. mended boxes. etc. cleaned up barn. & put in a load of Hay

April 16. Cold & cloudy mended hot bed frames & went to Hamilton twice looking at horses bought one at $125.

April 17th. started uncovering strawberries no men yet only Smith I am nearly used up on the job already. Fred Moore delivered the horse but lame on arrival getting a vet to examine him. we have not paid for him yet weather gettiing colder very cold north west wind today. had snow in Pennsylvania about a foot of it some places

April 18. Cloudy & very cool, uncovering strawberries.

April 19th. started spraying with oil on pears. they say it is two weeks to late but ground so soft we could not do it. even now we can only take 2/3 of a tank in the orchard by the road. got on about 4 1/2 tanks, today.. about another 1 1/2 or 2 tanks to finish. supposed to put in about 7 gals to the tank.

April 20th Raining again this morning and rained all day

April 21st Sunday motored to Caledonia. looking for men tried to get to Six Nation P.O. but roads to bad, but located a couple of men

April 22nd Finished spraying with oil had about 7 tanks in the barrel afraid we did not put it on strong enough should have been 7 gallons oil to the tank. two Indians started work at noon.

April 23rd still uncovering strawberries and weeding peppers. W. Smith off again. his sister died in Guelph Sunday has been away two

days now. Will be come back. Ordered 5 cars Berry covering manure dates Nov 10th 12th 14th 16th & 18th. and 5 cars for Hotbeds Feby 1st & Feby 10th March 5th 10th & 15th.

April 24th. Fine & warm cleaning off manure from Strawberries, and weeding peppers

April 25th. Raining again nearly all night and day.

April 26th. Smith worked two days and off again today on a proper spree this time I guess drawing manure & weeding peppers

April 27th Got three jobs finished today cleaning of strawberries weeding peppers and making hot-beds for last transplanting two Indians drawing out manure also. weather cool and very windy.

April 28th Sunday Cool cloudy & windy & looks like rain this morning. and it did rain hard also this afternoon.

April 29th. Very cold today cloudy & strong north west winds. Started transplanting tomatoes they are very poor. too tall & soft

April 30th. Transplanting tomatoes between showers

May 1st. cold & cloudy transplanting tomatoes more rain. got our new Planter home but ground to wet to try it out.

May 2nd stopped at 9.30a.m. by heavy rain was planting Cucumber. rained all day.

May 3rd nothing doing today every thing flooded cold today. heavy winds from the north west & cloudy. some rain & snow.

May 4th cold & cloudy nearly frost at night with north winds

May 5th Sunday went to Hamilton to Mrs Mays.

May 6th weather still cold & cloudy, digging strawberry plants.

May 7th. started to plant Strawberries with new planter not much success horses go to fast.

May 8. Digging & cleaning more Strawberry plants. weather still cold & cloudy frosts at night.

May 9 planting Strawberries. Bot 5000 Glen Mary plants at $6 per 1000. planted 15 Rows on S.West of house

next road, and 8 1/2 7 1/2 Rows on north east patch starting the first long row next the mail box and going towards the barn. short rows next road & 4 Rows next cherr Mont. cherries are Gib Baldwin Gibson also 8 Rows next Glen Mary of over to Richmond cherry tree. then 8 Rows Cooper then 1 Row & 50 feet at far end are Pearl then Emlongs Gibson.

May 10th. Planted out Cabbages 6000 weather fine & warm today also planting strawberries.

May 11th Finished planting strawberries also planted 8 sashes - 2 ozs Cauliflower seed and 2 sashes 4 ozs of vegetable marrows weather turning warmer had a light shower and it looks like more.

May 12th. Sunday mild & cloudy looks like more rain sweet cherries & most of the plums in blossom now. and sour cherries just starting to come out.

May 13th Very cold and cloudy down about 40 this morning trying to hoe old

strawberry patch. it is nearly all clover & grass. some job.

May 14th. cloudy & cold still around 40. started to rain about 830a.m. & rained all day cut first Asparagus 4 bskts {baskets} sold at $250 {$2.50} in Toronto.

May 16th Planted 20 lbs Beans & 2 lbs Peas weather very cold and blowing a gale had to fasten hotbed sashes. down with boxs of earth lost about 40 panes broke

May 17th nearly frost last night but finer today planted Sweet Corn & pumpkins

May 18th. Fine & mild but started to rain about 6pm. Hoeing old strawberries.

May 19th Sunday cold and cloudy with north east winds temperature 44 at 11a.m. cleared up after dinner. cherries in full bloom now plums mostly off now.

May 20 Cold this morning froze ice. Hoeing old strawberries

May 21st Still cold hoeing old strawberries not much good by the looks of them

May 22nd Hoed new strawberry patch in cherry orchard

it even looks worse than the old ones.

May 23rd Still hoeing strawberries some job so many acres and poor men.

May 24th. Indians all off. Hoeing strawberries & cutting asparagus only cut 20 bskts {baskets} all week sold at $165 {$1.65} & $175 {$1.75} a bskt

May 25th Still hoeing strawberries went to Hamilton after dinner saw Geo Chapman wants increase in pay from $25 to $30 a week afraid we cannot afford to pay it.

May 26th. Sunday drove up to Indian Res. not much prospects of help it looks dead.

May 27th & 28th Hoeing strawberries they are coming out in blossom fast now

May 29th planted some potatoes also started tomatoes it looks like a failure trying to plant on {cross?} marks impossible to get them straight turned very hot today must be over 90 in the shade. it was 86 tonight at 6. oclock

May 30th Very warm reported 93 in the Shade in Hamilton was 102 here in the sun at noon. planting tomatoes.

May 31. Some cooler today. still planting tomatoes. ground getting pretty dry now

June 1st. a big drop in temperature down to 50 this morning and at 42 at 11 oclock tonight. will be nearly frost.

June 2nd Sunday Smith said temperature was 33 this morning at 5am. when he got up to go fishing

June 3rd started spraying at noon got 3 tanks on. cold & windy.

June 4th only got 3 tanks all day. Broke timeing gear

June 5th 6th & 7th still spraying it took 20 tanks to go over all. put about 6 lbs Lead & 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 gal Lime Sulphur. Every thing looks light no pears to amount to any thing dont look like 10 9/10 Early plums looks like more Reine Claude Bradshaws & Monarch than any thing and looks

like about half a crop of cherries. John & men have been planting peppers by hand after buying a machine. not enough horses to work it. Tomatoes planted out looks bad. weather has been very cold & windy. Paper states it froze ice Thursday am at Mt Hope also froze plants down near Toronto.

June 8th. still cold with strong north winds. planting peppers & tomatoes. temperature down to 40 at Bedtime tonight.

June 9th Sunday fine but cool home all day

June 10th Finished planting peppers also Vegetable marrows. broke the pole in the planter had to plant all the peppers by hand.

June 11th all the gang cultivating & hoeing have an awful cold.

June 12th cooler with a few light showers in after noon. Hoeing & cultivating

June 13th. cool & cloudy hoeing etc.

June 14th. Feeling punk had an exray picture taken.

June 15th Picked first strawberries 6 x 36 and 14 pints sent to Toronto Sold at 400 25¢. 200 23¢ planted Cauliflowers out yesterday weather cool & windy but getting very dry. am afraid strawberries will be small.

June 16th Sunday Fine home all day.

June 17th. Picked 29 x 36 SBerries. sold in Toronto at 1300 16¢. 700 15¢. 600 12¢. 300 11¢ weather very warm

June 18th. Very hot again and dry strawberries cooking up.

June 19th. Picked 104 x 36 SBerries today sold in Toronto at 15¢ to 18¢ a pint. weather very warm and no rain.

June 20 not picking today will have good big picking tomorrow

June 21st Very warm yet and no rain. picked 234 crates of pint boxs today Sold 80 x 36 here at 15¢ sent balance to Toronto sold at 12 to 18 cts. hot weather is certainly drying them up they say nearly done up on the plains.

June 22nd Saturday sent 48 x 36 to Toronto at noon. market away down in price. another car of American Berries in. they ours sold at 9¢ & 10¢ pint.

June 23rd Sunday drove down to 12 mile creek near Bronte for a picnic fine & warm.

June 24th. Picked 115 x 36 pints. shipped to Toronto sold at 9 & 10¢ this afternoon also picked 80 x 27's took to Uptons Jam Co. expect 12 1/2 or 13¢ there. Stronach sold at 6¢ ts today & sold last Friday night as low as 5¢ also 9 crates at $125 {$1.25} crate

thats some price he is done with us we lost $150 lower than Manse Welb.

June 25th Rained this morning picked 77 crates in the afternoon for Jam Factory

June 26th Picked 155 crates today had another light shower towards night.

June 27th not picking today hoeing & cultivating

June 28th Picked 134 crates today had a big rain in the night and some more showers today

June 29th Saturday picked 81 crates had some time went up to {Armons?} cold storage after dinner and 10 trucks ahead when I arrived had to hire truck to bring balance in. also borrow Hammonds truck to take pickers home

June 30th. Fine & warm went out in the country near mt nemo for picnic dinner. and laid around on the grass all day.

July 1st Picking strawberries 123 crates Jam Factories about filled up.

July 2 Picked 82 crates today getting very small & nearly done.

July 3rd. Very cold today only 46 this morning at 6a.m. started spraying cherries. sprayer went on the punk. Picking Berries yet.

July 4 not picking any strawberries today picked some cherries 27 Richmonds at 65¢ 8 Black Sweets at 90¢ 4 White Sweets at 65¢ 4 Red Small Sweets at 40¢

July 5th. Picked 70 crates SBerries this is about the finish

July 6th Finished up spraying cherries took 10 tanks. about 6 lbs lead. to tank and 3 3/4 gals Lime Sulphur looks like a good crop of cherries

July 7th Sunday. Had Miss & Mrs May out went down to 12 mile Creek for picnic turned out pretty warm very windy again. bad for the cherry crop.

July 8th. Picked 37 crates SBerries guess this is the last. not very good crop. weather was too dry. Had 536 x 36 pint crates & 908 x 27 quarts total of 1444 crates. also picked 61 x 11 Richmond Sour

cherries at 65¢. One party D.S. Litster wanted some at 45¢. said some one else quoted at 45¢ we cannot pick them for that. also picked 22 bskts {baskets} 6 qts Black Sweets at 90¢

July 9th. not much doing picked 6 bskts Sweet and 22 Richmond cherries had a big shower in the afternoon. men all cleaning out old Strawberry beds.

July 10th Finished up on Richmond cherries 87 bskts. only 205 bskts all together off about 100 trees and no price either only 60 & 65¢

cent 3 crates Cabbages on the 8th & 6 crates more today at $125 {$1.25} crate

July 11th Picked 3 crates Raspberries for the first sold at 20¢ also picked first Montmorency cherries 28 x 11's at 90¢ 5 x 6 at 55¢ and 20 x 6 Sweets.

July 12th. Picked 35 more Montmorencys and 21 sweets and a couple of crate Rasps weather fine & moderately warm

July 13. No picking today fixing ladders hoeing & etc had a sprinkle of rain

July 14 Had the {Cuttriss?} girls on a picnic to Credit Forks & Belfontain had a good time 110 miles for the return trip.

July 15. Picked 174 x 11 cherries & 10 x 6. also 34 x 6 Sweets 5 bskts {baskets} Beans for the first. and 7 crates cabbages 8 x 36 Rasps sold at 15¢

July 16th Picked 145 x 11 at 85¢ & 90¢ 168 x 6 at 50 & 55¢ only afew at the 90¢ & 55¢ was what went north. also picked 8 crates Rasps 7 Cabbages 5 Beans & 6 Sweet cherries

July 17. Picked 252 x 11 cherries & 10 x 6's and 13 x 6 sweets. weather fine & warm all week.

July 18th. Picked 219 11 qts & 25 x 6 cherries and 11 crates Rasps and 19 x 6 Green peppers and 4 bskts Marrows sold at Rasps 15 & 16¢ peppers 60 & 75¢ marrows 4 for $225 {$2.25} in Toronto

July 19th. Cooler today rain all gone around getting very dry now Picked 130 x 11 qts 205 6 qts of cherries. Had some Experts from Experimental station looking at Black berries say they never will be any good gone

July 22nd Busy today Picked 240 x 11 cherries at 80 & 85¢. 160 at $1.00 a bskt {basket}. 32 crates Cabbages at $100 {$1.00} & $125 {$1.25} a crate 9 crates Rasps & 8 bskts {Rasps?}

July 23rd Got 228 bskts cherries & 11 crates Rasps today & 12 crates Cabbages very warm and no rain

July 24th Picked 256 x 11 Mont & 12 x 6 Sweets today

July 25th. a couple of Thunder Showers one at midnight and one at 5a.m. no picking this morning

July 26th. Raining again last night very wet this am. picked Rasps 28 x 36 crates sold to Canners at 8¢ pint. picked 126 x 11 cherries & 10 x 6 in the after noon

July 27th. Received cheque from Uptons for srawberries. 909 crates at 12 1/2¢ box $3067.87. no picking at all today.

Aug 6th still cool & cloudy with strong winds blowing off a lot of fruit plums & pears no orders today cut 30 crates Cabbages for Bullock at 90¢ crate.

Aug 7th. Tomatoes took a big Slump down to 75 cts today picked 32 bskts {baskets} & 20 bskts Shiro plums.

Aug 8th. Picked 15 bskts apples (Sweet Bough) 50¢ 4 toms & 14 bskts Red June plums & 25 crates Cabbages

Aug 9th. Picked 60 bskts tomatoes 21 bskts plums 6 Cukes 16 cabbages 4 marrows. started spraying pears with nicotine. put in nearly a quart to a tank and nearly 30 lbs of Kolaform dust got two tanks on.

Aug 10th Finished Spraying pears took nearly five tanks 14 lbs Black Leaf 40 & nearly 150 lbs Kolaform

Aug 28. Finished Burbank plums today had 413 bskts sold from 70¢ to $1.00 a bskt.

Aug 29 Finished Clapps Pears had $150 {$1.50} bskt Sold at 75¢ to 90¢ picked Damson crop 11 x 6 qts. Had 136 tomatoes today at 40 and 45 cts

Aug 30th Tomatoes slumped in price and very few orders Only picked 117 bskts {baskets}.

Aug 31st nothing doing went to the Toronto Ex Big crowd there Paper says 187,000 got home at 1215p.m. good and tired

Sept 1 Sunday very hot one of the hottest days of the year

Sept 2nd Monday very hot yet ripening all the tomatoes at once. Sold Bullock 150 bskts & shipped a few over 100

Sept 3rd Very warm every thing cooking no rain. picked 142 toms 83 plums 26 pears

Sept 4th Very warm yet. picked 154 Monarch plums for Upton 2 1/2 cts a lb. Shipped 118 toms a few plums & pears north.

Sept 5th Picked 100 bskts fruit for orders and over 100 bus {bushels} tomatoes for canners

Sept 6. took another load of plums into Uptons 158 bskts only shipped 88 bskts fruit north.

Sept 7th. Took a load of Cauliflowers to Grimsby Pickle. Co had a smash up on the road. a car skidded in front of me. busted up radiator, fender, light. & bent axle. on the truck. and his fenders & door frame - guess he will have to pay for it.

Sept 8 Sunday cool & cloudy Went to Hamilton to see the fellow that stopped in front of truck says he has turned it over to the Insurance Co.

Sept 9th one of our busiest days Shipped 81 plums 81 pears & 134 toms. 19 Cukes 2 peppers 2 Cabb & 6 Caul all out on orders

Sept 10th not so many orders today about 150 bskts {baskets}. Very windy blowing a gale started to pick up Bartlett pears got about 125 bskts picked up.

Sept 11. Finished picking up pears. had 50 bushels for the canners & 50 bskts No 2 Bartletts also 50 bskts other

kinds that blew off. had quite a few orders too. over 60 bskts {baskets} plums & 100 tomatoes took another load to Uptons yesterday 188 bskts

Sept 12th not quite so many orders today 62 toms 40 plums 28 pears 20 cukes and a load Tomatoes to Canning Co.

Sept 13th Some light showers got 101 bus {bushels} tomatoes to the factory & 170 bskts fruit order.

Sept 14th not much doing picked 25 bus pears & 30 bskts. also a few peppers

Sept 15th Sunday fine drive up to the mountain.

Sept 16. Monday very busy had an order from Libster for Freight and Smith off on a {dunk?} since Friday noon. but managed it by working until after 9 oclock. 127 tomatoes 83 pears 115 plums 14 cukes. also 84 bskts on other orders - 423 bskts total biggest this year I think.

Sept 17 Not so busy today Picked 116 plums 27 toms & shipped a few peppers to Toronto Rain this afternoon

Sept 18. Picked 100 bskts {baskets} plums for Davidson at 60¢ Shipped only about 75 bskts altogether

Sept 25 Finished picking sweet peppers yesterday & today only about 50 bskts this picking had about 9000 plants crop a failure but prices good for what we had did not sell any less than 75¢ bskt some red ones as high as $1.50 down to $1.00 sold a peddler 50 tomatoes without covers at 28¢ picked 12 Duchess pears at 60¢ 16 bskts cukes 35¢

picked 70 bskts {baskets} for a peddler & he never showed up had to ship to Toronto. suppose we will get nothing for them. they sold at 35¢ & 40¢ also sent 40 bskts peppers. sold 80¢
