April 20th 1871 The weather has been somewhat cooler. Some frost last week. Finished sowing spring grain yesterday. Very heavy shower
June 6 1971 Some Frost during the month of May doing damage. The latter part of the month and so far in June has been warm enough for harvest We had a heavy shower today; not quite done planting corn. We are visited this season by the potato bug; have some early potatoes about the sice of small hickory nuts. Attended the association at Chatham.
July 3rd Just finished taking clover hay today weather very fine hay good

July 17th the season continues remarkable fine, excellent harvest weather Finished cutting wheat for John today, cut ours on the 8th, cutting barley today, commenced timothy hay very heavy. Crops look well: are troubled with potato bug

October 23rd have been husking some corn for a few days Our potato crop was good (an exception) Has been remarkably dry since August scarcely any seeding done Great fires all over the country
Dec 12th It remains remarkably dry no sleighing yet Sold grey team a few days agao for $225

Jan'y 11th had some extremely cold days before Christmas no sleighing yet. Went to Detroit on a call in holidays
Feb'y 14 Have had very steady Winter weathe plenty of snow and about a month sleighing it thawed and rained a few days but is very cold now again
April 18th Cold and dry very cold March, Sowed S.Wheat Apirl 26th finished Oats today good time for seeding
June 17 have had plenty rain for nearly a month corn looks badly the worms have done great damage, pleasant weather now, have some early potatoes about the size of walnuts Raised horse sheds at Church this spring
Nov 1st have had a fine season somewhat dry during the summer fall wheat yielded very poorly spring wheat much better we had in all 180 bu and 380 of oats. It has been a good fall for seeding whea looks well. We made 250 Gall. Molasses of our own & 700 for other people. We had abou 125 bu. potatoes. Our corn crop is about the best we ever raised have just commenced to husk
