Tuesday Aug 1st. Very hot all day. Bill Emery and I went up at Mr. Sliter’s in forenoon and E.W. Smith painted the house. His miss man died and was buried by choice around.

Tuesday Aug 1<u>st</u>. Very hot all day. Bill, Emery and I worked at the Stable we finished the wall. C.W. Smith painted at the house. His new man did not come. Toby chored around.
  
Wednesday 2nd. Bill and I went down to paint Mr. Glovers sheep pasture. In the afternoon went to the shop for some chain. In the afternoon I helped Emery draw hay until dark. Bill for noon, hot, hot all day.

Wednesday 2<u>nd</u>. Bill and I went down town first thing after breakfast and got 3 loads of brick bats before dinner. in afternoon I helped Emery and Toby went with Bill for more bats, hot all day.
  
Thursday. All worked at Mr. Sliter Smith painted the remaining front side. Hallen went down town. We loaded the hay and started down after tea for the evening. Dick went down town to the dock played, very hot.

Thursday. We all worked at the stable. Smith finished painting yesterday. Hattie was down town to tea at the Hobbs. Toby and I drove down after her in the evening. Dick was down town too. The band played. very hot.
  
Friday Aug 4th. We all worked at Mr. Sliter. The Smiths after dinner. Very hot. We went after wood creek back, they brought 3 loads Mr. and Mrs. Bill left up to Oxford. Emery went home but hopes to get to Colchester.

Friday Aug 4<u>th</u>. We all worked at the stable in the forenoon. After dinner Toby and Bill went after more brick bats They <s>day</s> brough{t} 3 loads this after noon, Bill left us to-night. Emery went home but hopes to get back again on Monday.  his Mother and and sister were here this after noon and made Hattie quite a visit. It has been a hot day again.
  
Monday. The Matthews and sister were here this afternoon and made really quite a visit. It has been a hot day again.

Saturday Aug 5th. I went down town right after breakfast and brought Greenbury over to {trim?} Davies’ feet. I drove him back and had Joe & Ginger shod. In afternoon I went to town for some oats. Toby went for a swim after tea Hattie and I drove down town to meet Roy. The train did not get in until after 10 O'Clock.
 
 
Saturday Aug 5th. I went down town right after breakfast and brought Emery’s buggy down to Edin Davis’s for I drove him back and had Jim Griggs shoe his after dinner. I went to camp for Emery and they went for a swim after tea. Pretty hard showers about 12 midnight.
